Hi Kate,

Everclear is good for tinctures. You use 50/50 everclear/distilled water.

Panther Piss is used by some of us on this list. It is a 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar and blackstrap molasses. I believe it has many uses but one is to balance the acid/alkaline ratio.

You should browse around the files for recipes and other tips. There is a lot of good information there. You could start with Total Tonic. It's pretty easy and seems to cover a lot of different issues.

Enjoy!

Ann

Is it safe to make a tincture with "everclear" a190 proof grain alcohol?

Because its such a high proof would it be safe to ingest???

I'm also wondering if any of you have heard of a formula called "panther

piss"?? What is it and what is it used for??

Finally, I'm learning about tincture making and I wonder what tinctures you

all find most useful and which ones you always keep on hand...I'm making

some for practice and i want to make ones that will be the most

useful...Thanks for any help you can give!! Kate

Heya Kate! I just wanted to say hi and welcome, but since I've gone and

taken up your mailbox with an email anyway, I'll take a stab at two of your

questions...

1. Everclear -- Excellent! The higher proof, the better it is at sucking

the stuff out of your herbs. It will also " suck " to take, you're right in

that, if only because Everclear tastes so *nasty*. (But don't worry about

a few drops of it hurting you; it won't.) I suggest making your tinctures

with it, and then for the weak of " spirit " (hehe), putting the tincture

dose into a small cup of hot water--this will evaporate off the alcohol. I

do this all the time even with Vodka tinctures, for kids and my friends who

are recovered alcoholics!

2. My favorite tinctures to have around: Echinacea...though I've added

Garlic and Marshmallow root to this one over time. It's a great antibiotic

(the garlic adds to that), antiseptic, antifungal, etc etc. Good

internally for colds/flus and bacterial problems; externally for skin

problems, infections, wounds, boils, etc. My second favorites are cayenne,

which I'm still learning the myriad uses of, and black walnut hull, which

is an awesome antifungal. (Someone suggested I put a little BWH tincture

in the soapy water I use to clean my bathroom...works great!)

Take care 'n stuff,

Sara T.

With 190 Proof, you want to cut it 50 - 50 with distilled water before you tincture. The strongest should be 60 - 40.

60%Everclear and 40% Distilled water. Panther Piss remedy should be in the "Files".

probably not much....lol... apple cider vinegar is great for many things but that is as juice or liquid.... a vinegar pill ?? i can't imagine it would be very effective, but I guess would be better than no vinegar.... Here is some info - I hope it helps... but I would go with apple cider vinegar NOT the pills.

apple cider vinegar contains cholesterol-reducing pectin and the perfect balance of 19 minerals, including potassium, phosphorus, chlorine, sodium, magnesium, calcium, sulfur, iron, fluorine and silicon. In fact, apple cider vinegar contains 93 different components that can help your body. The many benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar include:

Regulates blood pressure. Fights infection. Relieves arthritis, gout and joint pain. Promotes Digestion. Improves Metabolism. Fights Osteoporosis. Maintains healthy skin. Relieves sore throats, laryngitis. Soothes sunburn, shingles and bites. Helps prevent dandruff, baldness and itching scalp.

Cider vinegar has many healing abilities and is known to improve certain symptoms of illness and disease. It works not by curing any specific illness, but by boosting the health of the individual with its nutritional and healthful qualities. It may be an effective remedy for and kidney disease and helpful in alleviating joint pain. The malic acid content of apples dissolves calcium deposits.

Dear Suzanne,

Acne is almost always caused by one of two sources.

1. Bad Diet.

2. Poor Kidney function due to toxicity.

And sometimes possibly both. You'd need to get very specific about your overall health before anyone could get specific about a program for you. I'd be willing to be there is way more than that going on with you, sooooooo...give! ;o)

Hi Jamie,

Have you given Doc a call? Maybe a healing crisis turned on after your cleanse and you're stuck in the middle of it now. Can you do a juice cleanse? Or go all raw fruits/veggies and do the liver tea? Just some thoughts...

Hope you feel better soon! :)Kelli

Hi David, a friend suffers badly from anxiety. She

finds a lot of relief with lemon balm tea, hot or

cold, and several of the nervine herbs. I know some

of those she uses are mullein, lobelia, motherwort...

can't remember for certain. But they do help

tremendously. (If only she would take them more

often!)
