Guest guest
Hi Vickie. There are lots of herbs that are great for this. Chammomile, catnip and lemon balm are both yummy and relaxing as tea. Try some epsom salts in a hot bath. Talk to other mothers, find a new craft project, and find you time every day. My little girl had her first day of Kindergarten today - she was fine and I was nervous LOL! *hugs* Janet - Vickie Swaim Herbal_remedies Monday, September 08, 2003 8:29 PM [herbal remedies] stress Good evening all, I am mainly a lurker and quite new to herbal healings and such I do not have much to offer though I do enjoy all the posts I have had some stressful situations in my life at the moment Are there any herbal teas that can help me during this time of stress for me. Guest guest
Hi Vickie, I hear you...what a challenging time it sounds like. Here are some teas: Passionflower and Chamomile Lemon balm and Basil Lemon balm Linden Flowers and Chamomile Vervain and Lavender Kava kave rt Total Nutrition drink would be good for you and give you what you need nutritionally- great if you are stressed. Do it before you get sick and run down. Here is a fabulous reviltalizing drink you can make: 1 cup chopped pineapple 1/2 cup pineapple juice 1 inch fresh ginger rt peeled and chopped 1 TB fresh lemon juice Honey- to taste Blend- add more juice for thinner drink Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Ylang- Ylang, and Clary Sage essential oils are great and pure Rose oil (steam distilled Rose otto) is a wonderful heart healer imo. Citrus oils are cheering particularly a little Mandarin- mixed with the other oils. Bergamot is wonderful for the blues- but must not be used on sun exposed skin. Take wonderful baths with a cup of Epsom salts and 8-10 of the above oils total in any combination you like. Sip some tea...light a candle....and play some soothing music. Journal...exercise daily...and give yourself some time to be where you are. Celebrate all that you have created....the wonderful nest you made....cry some cleansing tears... Buy fresh flowers....sing...and when you feel ready...start to envision what you want the next phase of your life to be for/about.... Wishing you relaxation...peace and flow... Guest guest
Hi Paula My personal choice would be Angelite. It's a very calming and peaceful stone, and also helpful and supportive. Whenever I get worked up about things, I tuck an Angelite tumblestone into my bra!!! Works wonders. L & L Sarah - " Steve and Paula " >I have been under alot of stress lately. Guest guest
Could be something associated with protection, or you may need some meditation / balance. Then I would go with root chakra or clear quartz in general to help balance everything out. Theres alot of variables Peace Mike Vedrana <cayca_114 wrote: --- In , " Steve and Paula " <hodgestr wrote: > > I have been under alot of stress lately. Guest guest
Hi Jesse, Everyone has their favs. I like Blue Lace Agate for mental stress (like a mental time out) coupled with Citrine to help focus on work. What might a good combination of stones be for reducing stress at work? Mostly mental stress over too much work, but also dealing with some difficult co-workers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks, Jessi
Guest guest
In my work I have found that my crystals work very personally with me, so even if a book says that a crystal does something I sometimes find that it works different for me. I am personally drawn to the blue tones and bright red tones, however my howlite goes everywhere with me and I find is a great stress reducer. My lapis works well for that also but it, for me, can be a very strong stone so I have to be very aware of how I use it. Labradorite has always been one of my favorite for a sort of all over good feeling and release of tension and fears (my labradorite is sort of my best friend in the crystal collection that I have). Something I like to do is if I have a specific need that I want a new crystal for I go to my favorite metaphysical shop and talk to the stones and crystals and pick by instinct and feeling. Guest guest
Hi Jessi, My favorite stones for stress reduction are: Lepidolite - very soothing, cooling and calming Lithium quartz - again emotionally soothing In terms of reducing work stressors I like: Tourmalined quartz - I always keep one or two of these near my computer to help ameliorate the effects of the electronics on my energy field Black tourmaline - This stone " eats " negativity Obsidian - This stone works to seal the energy field and help repel negativity Smoky flourite - This stone helps you prioritize, concentrate and get stuff done I also keep a bundle of sage on my desk at work. It's got dried flowers on it, so it looks like a decoration. Guest guest
I would start with ones that " feel " right. You know the feeling...the one you feel deep down inside. You'll know when you find them. Good luck Blessings, Bobbi -- Jessi <gypsysp wrote: > As I'm fairly new to working with crystals, I'm looking for > suggestions. Guest guest
With the caveat of: You have to find what works for you ~ What works for me: howlite and botswana agate (lovely calming, de-stressing), sodalite and citrine (soak up negative energy), blue lace agate and dumortierite (help me keep my tongue when I want to scold), and black tourmaline (protection from nasties). You could get some small tumbles of different stones, and try them to see what helps you. Others to try are chrysocolla, amethyst, carnelian, smoky quartz .. . . , Jessi <gypsysp wrote: > > As I'm fairly new to working with crystals, I'm looking for > suggestions. Guest guest
Jessi- > What might a good combination of stones be for reducing stress at work? Mostly mental stress over too much work, but also dealing with some difficult co-workers. > You've received some excellent suggestions so far. For me, one of the most helpful stone spirits for mental stress is Amblygonite. Their medicine helps us to let go, to clear our head and to remain relaxed and alert so that we're able to do what we need to do. If the stress begins to affect us emotionally, the spirits of Petalite can be included in the dance. I've found the colorless and pink spirits to be more helpful in releasing emotional stress, while the greyish, brown and yellow Petalites share different medicine. Mochi Marbles help us to manage stress of all kinds, on all levels, and they also enable us to keep our spirits up, even when in the presence of difficult people. These are joyful stone spirits, and they help us to " hold our joy " wherever we are. Also the spirits of Kambaba Jasper help us to feel rooted in a deep and meaningful way. When we're rooted, the stress decreases dramatically. And when we're rooted, we can also let difficult people pass by us without affecting us directly. A tree with strong roots can weather high winds and strong storms. This is the place that Kambaba Jasper opens within us. Salt, which is Halite, can also offer us some help. These Elders help to clear dissonance from the body, so that it doesn't begin to build up. Mental stress can quickly become physical stress, especially if we're in a stressful environment day after day. Ask the spirits of Salt for help in releasing any stress you're holding in your body. Respectfully add a bit of Salt to some bath water, and let yourself soak in the tub for awhile. (This assumes, of course, that there are no health issues for which Salt would be contraindicated.) And, lastly, as others have said, I have found the spirits of Howlite to be extremely helpful in managing stress. For me, their presence is cleansing and clearing, like someone is standing beside us and fanning the stress out and away from us, so that it doesn't stay with us, and doesn't affect us as much. > thanks, You're welcome. I hope the above helps in some way. Guest guest
Thanks so much to everyone that has given suggestions! Over the last few days I have tried a few different stones and combinations of stones. They haven't helped much with stress, but they have helped with other things! Perhaps they know better what I really need, than I do. Anyway, There were a few stones mentioned that I didn't even think about, so I'll add them into my experimentations until I find what's right for me. Thanks again! Guest guest
I was thinking about that today, and I think you're right. It seems that every day last week I was able to deal with one particular issue per day and now today I had a lovely stress-free day. All of the factors contributing to the stress were still there, I was just able to deal with them all at once finally. It's like the crystals helped me one by one until I learned what I needed to learn. Pretty cool Jessi --- kari john <john.kari1 wrote: > Jessi perhaps the crystals are helping you with things that are the > root of > the stress itself? >

Guest guest
Interesting article by Deepak Chopra:Your car breaks down on the highway. You have a fight with your spouse. The stock market plummets and your company announces layoffs. Your neighbor mows the lawn at 7 am. Something happens that violates your sense of how things should be, and you perceive danger ― whether real or imagined. Such unwelcome events trigger the most ancient human impulse: the stress response. The result is stress, now one of the most common words in the English vocabulary, describing everything from a missed appointment to a life-threatening diagnosis. In fact, the word stress has crossed over as a popular term in many languages, including Japanese, Spanish, Arabic, and Russian. You are no doubt familiar with the myriad symptoms of stress – the tight jaw, shoulders, or neck muscles; irritability; anxiety; poor concentration; and insomnia, to name a few. When your body is in stress mode: • The heart beats faster. • Blood pressure increases. • The breath becomes shallow and rapid. • Blood sugar rises. • Adrenalin and cortisol production surge. • The immune system weakens. • The production of sex hormones decreases. • Digestion is halted As numerous scientific studies have found, chronic stress accelerates aging and makes you more vulnerable to serious illness, including heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, panic attacks, immune deficiency, depression, stomach ulcers, chronic fatigue, and migraine headaches Choices that Relieve Stress When you’re feeling overwhelmed or anxious, it is easy to forget that you have choices and that there are many tools and techniques that can help you feel better right away. One of the most effective stress-relieving practices is meditation. A regular practice helps you go beyond turbulence, releasing stress, fatigue, and emotional turmoil. Even as your body is resting deeply in meditation, your mind is awake, though quiet. Meditation gives you the experience of pure, restful awareness. As you meditate, the bodily reactions are exactly the opposite of the stress response: your breathing slows, blood pressure decreases, and stress hormone levels fall.http://www.chopra.com/stress
