Herbal Medicines and reality

Dear Ien,

Such a thoughtful response to question on Herbal treatments.I

happened to think so much of Dr McCain's knowledge of herbs that I

enrolled in her herbal correspondence course and had a few

conversations with her.I am not the best with the art of getting

ideas across by writing but feel there needs to be added a few

additional comments.Although she may have been threatened with legal

injunctions to throw her in jail and to shut down her marvelous

organization in Arkansas, many of Dr McCain's problems arose out of

jealously some of which originated in the alternative community. The

whole matter of alternative medicine is complicated by several

factors, the least of which should be infighting between those of us

who want to see our beliefs raised to the same level of respect that

the allopathic community now enjoys.Nothing gets my fire going as

much as seeing conceited hippocritical MD's and DO's pulling the wool

over patients eyes about what treatments are best for their patients

welfare.MD's and Do's,from very early on in their education are bred

to preach a sermon based almost entirely on the pharmaceutical

industry and the offshoots that have risen around it.And the real

shame of it all is that 99% of them don't care what is going on nor

do they want to learn anything that is not preached to them by the

AMA or their local medical associations. They are literally idols

surrounded by hundreds of nurses, lab techs, orderlies, administrative

personel whose livehood depends upon holding in place the gods and

idols that furnish them their work and livihood, despite the damage

they do to so many people.

If I,as an NMD, had ever recommended to a patient a herb or

treatment that has caused as much suffering as pediatric or adult

oncology, hormone replacement therapy or radical treatments for breast

cancer I would more than likely have been put in prison for the rest

of my life.

What is the answer? In my book it is Oklahoma, the land of the Native

Americans. There are statutes here that are more liberal than any

other state when it comes to Naturopathy ie Herbology etc.It is here

that we need to make a stand. If any of you who are interested in

Alternative Answers will come and help me build a clinic,a school and

an organization based on a model of Mariah McCain's example I would

be willing to donate a very valuable piece of land on a major

interstate for such efforts.

Sincerely,Dr John D. Son NMD
