Howdy, It certainly does help with it, as it is a very good anti microbial (bacteriological and fungus, though I don't recall if it is anti viral, though is seams it isn't). In fact I've read in some herb books (as well as on some herb sites) referred to it as Russian's penicillin, as they (the Russians) felt so highly of it's abilities. I've had the pound that I bought dry for well over a year (says on the bag best used by 10-2001), and it still seems to be effective, though as with other herbs time may decrease the effectiveness some what, but if it is kept well sealed it may negate the effects of age somewhat. As far as taste, you do, at least in my case, somewhat get use to it, as I usually mix a good bit (maybe a 1/4 of the way full in a quart jar), fill it the rest of the way with water, and heat it in the microwave (yes I know) for about 4 minutes (depends on the microwave wave of course) and then usually let it set till I get to it when it has cooled some. I do as well prepare it the same way with boiling water when I'm feeling a bit more ambitious, and as of late I've been putting in a tea bag of some concoction that is called digestive aid (goodearth medicinals) or a ginger mix or or ginseng mix. It does improve the taste some, but in most cases, I drink herbals not for the taste, though it is my estimation, some are quite enjoyable, but that is rather subjective. -- Goat (Generalist of all Trades)!
