Thanks for the information. I kept spraying Colloidal Silver in my eyes and it went away. I have been getting sensitive to makeup/face cleansers/hair spray/commercial shampoos for a while now. I guess my body finally said enough is enough give me nature. So I went and bought all natural shampoo and facial stuff and its getting better. The rash went away but left my face very dry. So I am using a natural moisturizer on my face.

I live out by the Great Salt Lake and I did notice after the Olympics that there is a brown haze everywhere.

I guess my skin and body are rejecting that as well.

I try to eat mostly vegetarian foods along with drinking plenty of water. I am also going to do a detox this week to rid my body of all the chemicals I recently went off of for my MS. There are so many factors that could cause the reactions and now that I am eliminating the ones I can control it is getting a bit better. The eyes are still kinda itchy but I also have allergies and as I get older they get worse. I am working with a Chinese herbalist to help me balance out many health problems now he has to add one more to the list. lol

Thanks again for your help.

Re: [herbal remedies] Eye Infections

There are areas in Utah which are susceptible to strange chemical pollutantsreleased from government facilities. It is possible that some new pollutantwas released recently. Or, if you're in the SLC area, increased pollutionfrom recent traffic could be a trigger. Are others in your neighborhoodaffected? Even if not, there is a threshold of pollution tolerance for eachperson, which can vary widely with diet, other infections, and evenemotional levels.Whenever a pollution-related irritation happens on the face, plain old AloeVera gel works wonders. It is even safe to rub near the eyes. Severalcommercial formulas work well. Patricia,

I live north of Salt Lake. I drink nettle tea for my hair and arthritis. It helps. I know that the pollution is horrible and the brown ick is still lingering.

I have an auto immune disease and sometimes Echinacea doesn't work for me unless I take my tincture which is very strong and only on the onset of infection or colds. I tried it this time but didn't work. The only thing that worked is spraying Colloidal Silver in my eyes and taking 3 tablespoons a day. I have gotten rid of the itches but some mornings it is kinda burning. I also have allergies to dust, weeds and the such. I can manage those most of the time.

Not fun but I am trying to get my body to become healthy. Its taking me a while since I am going off all the chemicals the doctors keep wanting to give me.

Having MS and the nerve pain gets out of hand some nights but I take a hops/passion flower tincture that I make to handle that pain. I also use arnica cream to help me as well. I am going to try and make my own creams with Colloidal Silver in it to help me . I hear good things about that and I can say it does work. I couldn't believe it when I sprayed it into my eyes and within a few hours the redness, burning and gooey ick was completely gone.

I am going to start making my own so I can have it on hand all the time. I hate to pay such a price when it costs less to make it yourself.

My extended family are pill poppers and go to the doctors all the time. I try to tell them it will only weaken their defenses but they don't listen. My mother has MS as well and she is on over 20 different pills a day. Both her and my grandmother are addicted to pain meds. I used it very sparingly and I had to be in a great deal of pain in order to take one. I was given a regular prescription of pain pills but in a year only filled it once. My mother runs out of hers before the middle of the month as does my grandmother. Its sad to see them so addicted to chemicals. But I did manage to get my mother to take the hops/passionflower tincture and she did agree it helped but she hates the taste. I could never get my grandmother to even take a vitamin. My grandfather was a pharmacist but he believed in using nature first I only wish my grandmother would have listened to him. Now that he is gone he is no longer there to control her habits.

Thanks for the help I do appreciate it.

Re: [herbal remedies] Eye Infections

Elise,

Where in Utah are you??? I also live in Utah -I live in Eastern Utah in Duchesne. But travel to the SLC area frequently. I also have been having several of the same eye problems - I have put mine down to the weird weather we have had all winter and also the increased pollution due to the Olympics. I think there are lots of allergens in the air. I was forced to resort to Benadryl for s few days as was out of nettles - but have resupplied them and am now drinking nettles tea several times a day and it has helped with the itchy goopy eyes. I would also take Echinacea to boost immune system (I have ragweed allergies and have a problem taking Echinacea) I am hoping that it is just a pollen reaction along with the increased pollution that is the irritant.

I have not written in a while, been busy with my business and I now need some help.

I have had terribly itchy eyes for about 2 weeks. Now I wake up this morning and my eyes are so swollen and infected. They really don't itch like a stye but boy does it burn and is all red.

I have colloidal silver and I think I read somewhere that this helps? But what else would help me. I have so much I have to get done with my business and my house.

I also after all these years can not wear my face makeup. I usually don't where that much but my face has become really red and rashy. I have decided not to wear makeup unless its the hypo-allergenic kind and was going to replace it all today. I have never had any acne not even as a teenager and now as an older adult I do. But my face sometimes itches as well.

Nothing is different that I have done all my life with cleaning of my face morning and night.

Does anyone have any suggestions. This is really embarrassing and irritating.

I would so appreciate it. I also love all the wonderful information I have received on this list over the past year or so.

Thanks

Elise from Utah

Rick, it depends on what is causing the eye stuff. It's much better to be safe

than sorry and if you can afford it, go to the opthalmologist. NOT an

optometrist. The first is a doctor, the second is someone who test's your eyes

to see if you can see.

For a while a couple of years ago, my left eye would feel like something was

scratching it. Like a pc of sand, an eyelash, whatever. Not hurt, but irritate

the heck out of me.Always trying to get 'it' out.

Last year, before we got laid off, I went to an opthamologist, who did this and

that, turned my eyelid inside out and looked and dyed and pried.

Turns out I have herpes of the eyelid. It gets on the inside of my eyelid. This

type of herpes is also known as shingles. It's in the same family. I was exposed

to chicken pox in 1981, and when that happens to adults that have had CP, they

usually get shingles. So, that's what I've got. It breaks out at weird times,

not always under stress, just whenever...on the top of my left thigh, always in

the same 6 inch square area. And that's what's in my eye. Apparently they are

blisters.

I did use the meds he gave me for free, Panatol and Zanitor, when I'm desparate,

I'll do it. I was. Now, I am going to try a weak chaparral tea, as it's

anti-viral, anti-tumor, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory. I know for a fact

it's the best pain reliever I've ever found, and I have been using my Herbicine

Ointment on the outbreak on my leg, which is the worst it's ever been in 22 yrs.

So I will make a weak tea as soon as I'm not working and wash my eye with that.

It might help your eye too and I will send you chap if you send me postage, so

you can make your own.

If anyone is interested, I'll give you a run down on the shingles, and how it's

acted with the ointment and what i've been doing. If not, that's ok too, it

won't hurt my feelings. :))

Hi Michelle,

No I haven't. I know what ravensara is, dunno what the other one is.

I have been using my Herbicine Ointment, [neem, seabuckthorn, chaparral with

eo's] for the past 2 days, it is healing, if that is what's going on, rather

quickly.

This is the first time in 21 years that it's been this bad, had this much pain

and has drained this much or this fast. Right now it looks like it's on the

mend, and this is only day 4. So far, I would guess it's the 'HO stuff.'

[affectionate nickname for it] <g>

Ravensara has potent antiviral action- calophyllum(foraha, tamanu) is a fatty

oil from a tree nut...some comes from Madagascar- it is excellent at wound

healing, as it stimulates phagocytosis. The two combined(50/50) have been

used in blends for shingles, Chick pox, herpes- and several EO companies

market it...

(I blend it, too- it is so effective)

Glad to hear you are healing- my grandfather had shingles and was in a lot

of pain...

Blessings

Michelle
