Hopefully you all remember me, I posted last week about dh having the axillary lymph nodes removed for melanoma (they were clear...thank God...but know he has to live with the fact that he let them remove perfectly good body parts. :-( ). But anyway we went back in for his wound check and I don't know what if anything this has to do with the current situation but the stupid "doctor" (I use that term loosely in reference to MDs) yanked his arm up and was shoving his hand into the muscle showing him exactly how much movement he really could get from it...grrr. Well ever since then dh has had a LOT of swelling right around the incision area. Looks like someone shoved a baseball under his skin. Not sure if this is from the surgery or from the abuse the doc put him through. I am assuming it's lymph that doesn't know where to drain now that that area is mutilated. I've heard of doing lymphatic massage but don't know how quickly we could find someone who does this. Can someone tell me how to do this at home?? We have an ND in the area but I don't know how long her wait is or if NDs do this. Please please please someone give us some info....I *can't* take him back to the butchers who did this. :-*( I'm assuming the lymph will eventually reabsorb but my big concern (other than the fact that it's extremely painful) is that he does have a post-op wound there and I don't want it to come apart. We have steri-strips if it does but still...I'd rather prevent that from happening, yk? :-/ ~*~ Tiffany ~*~Mama to Princess Chanel (4/98) and Prince Xander (11/01)~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I would recommend you find a different doctor and ask them what is going on.

If he has a secondary infection from something the first doc did, along with

the reduced immune abilities due to lost nodes, he could develop a seriou

infection rapidly.

western medicine is quite good at crisis intevention. If I was run over by a

truck I would not want an accupuncturist and herbalist working on me while I

am bleeding to death.

I would want them to be involved after the western med doc stabilized teh

sitiuation and I was looking to Recover my full health.

Most people are confused about western medicine because the group has failed

to properly identify and understand what they do.

The are not in the health business but in the sickness crisis intervention

business. Most of the focus of that business is to stabilize a serious

situation.

Health is a far more complex and longterm process which westgern medicine is

not fully prepared to handle.

Should you find the first doctor was neglegent you should also find a good

lawyer. A doctor who does not do crisis intervention well should not be

allowed to damage more people. It is your responsibility to see his errors

adn incompetence is brought to the attention of the proper medical

authorities.

Hope you're still there. I've been unable to consistently read email over

the past couple of months. Everything is more intense as the school year

draws to a close.

Burdock tea is known to assist in lymph drainage. If your husband is

feeling sick, raw powdered Golden Seal root -- the most bitter yellow stuff

on Earth -- will help against this type of infection. Never take more than

a gram at a time, and do not take it more than two days in a row.

When brewing burdock tea, it's best to take longer than usual. Most teas

brew in about five minutes or less. With burdock, you need at least ten

minutes.

I agree that you need to get this doctor corrected or out of business. An

investigation, at least, is in order.

Lymph massage is fairly simple in most cases -- it's a matter of common

sense, gently rubbing the swollen area and letting fluid move about. One of

the nice things about the lymph system is that its pathways are fairly

flexible. It may be necessary for your husband to do daily mild exercise

the rest of his life, in certain patterns, to move lymph fluid around the

area where the nodes are missing. A good physical therapist would know what

is necessary after a full interview and examination.
