Dear Group, My daughter was diagnosed by 2 different dermatologist with

" Morphias " I could be wrong on the spelling. This started 8 years ago on her

neck which looked like a bug bite at first. She scratched on it and after a

while it started to look like a chunk of dead skin and is approx. 3 inches in

diameter now. It looks very strange. I sent her to the first dermatologist

who did a biopsy to see if it was cancerous. It came back negative. The

doctor told her that it was " Morphias maybe Morphia " and that no one knows

what it is and where it comes from and that there was no treatment for it.

They also said that she needed to have it checked periodically for cancer and

it will continue to grow. The second dermatologist basically said the same

thing but offered to give her cortisone shots to keep it from growing. They

had both said that it was not a good idea to remove it. Has anyone had any

experience with this type of condition and if so, what are some alternative

treatments for this? Thanks, Sandy

Hello Sandy,

Apparently the spelling may be Morphia or the seemingly more preferred

Morphea.

It's a version of Scleroderma from what I've found.

Go here to find out more about it:

http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic272.htm

Or you can go to a search engine (I use Google) and put in Morphea for the

search term.

Google is located at: http://www.google.com

Hope you find something to help your daughter!

Regards,

Skip
