Guest guest
" JoAnn Guest <angelprincessjo " <angelprincessjo Thu Jan 16, 2003 5:57 pm Update I just wanted to touch base with all of you regarding our success in dealing with my husband Tom's health issues. As many of you already know, he has been diagnosed with Type II diabetes. Our experiences over the past several months have been quite a test for the efficacy of alternative healing. I have found affirmation for all I've ever posted on the subject of Type II diabetes with his illness. To make a long story short, Tom was admitted into the hospital about six weeks ago. Our journey had started a little over a year ago when he was first diagnosed. At this time he was told that aspartame was a feasible alternative to sugar-laden beverages and food so immediately he commenced using nutrasweet (aspartame) with a passion, substituting it for the multitude of sugar-laden foods he had eaten previously. After all, hadn't the doctor had told him it was perfectly safe and orthodox medicine has all the answers (or so he thought). I outlined all the dangers of diet pop for him, all to no avail. He insisted on using the sugar substitutes in both foods and beverages. This literally went on all summer until finally this past fall he was admitted into the hospital with a host of symptoms, all of which we now know were " aspartame " - related. In addition, the meds which he was taking for some other health issues actually were interacting with the *methanol* (alcohol) in the aspartame. I've you'ver read any of the articles, you know that the methanol in aspartame reacts quite similarly to Southern " moonshine " . This particular facility did not offer him a workable diabetic diet in the absence of which he ingested more sugar and more aspartame, leading to a host of other complications. During this period of time and in the absence of vitamin/mineral/herbal supplementation, the situation got worse and worse until finally when he arrived home several weeks after, he was in a state of dehydration from all the diuretics and drugs he was on. I stood by for a period of time, meanwhile supplementing all I could for him, until his body reached a state of utter dehydration and fatigue. Then one night after visiting webmd I determined that several of the drugs he was prescribed were interacting with each other. I then proceeded to take him off several of them. The side effects being difficulty breathing, nausea, lack of appetite and dehydration, all of which he was then experiencing. We stopped two of them immediately, followed by the diuretic which we found to be interacting with several of his other meds and depleting his mineral stores irregardless of multiple supplementation. One thing led to another as I researched the drugs. I also discovered that the glyburide he was on for diabetes was literally taking away his appetite while one of the major side effects was " fatal heart attack " ! I had already obtained some of the Auryvedic medicines from my vitamin outlet earlier but when I read that I started giving them to him with a passion!! Three times daily, seven days a week! After about three or four weeks it was time to buy some more glyburide, I just decided enough was enough! We went and purchased a glucose tester and started getting our own results. Wouldn't you know it? The glyburide was literally putting him in more danger by switching him over from a diabetic state into dangerously low hypoglycemia. I had surmised as much for I had read this in the contraindications, both in the pill book and on webmd. Soom we became aware that the glyburide was the source of both his nausea and leg pain so we began to eliminate it entirely from his regimen. After successfully eliminating the glyburide, we found that his blood sugar stayed more in the normal range with a few dietary guidelines. With the elimination of high-glycemic fruits and refined carbohydrates we have been able to keep his blood sugar well under control, although I am happy to say that we have not had to eliminate organic potatoes. Potatoes are not in any way problematic when used in combination with other vegetables and as part of a well-balanced meal. The doctor had told us that with diabetes, it makes no difference what you eat, that it all inevitably turns to sugar, however we are finding that he is doing much better just by totally eliminating all refined simple carbs and sugar from his diet. We are just taking it one day at a time, but I will say that He is doing much better since he has gone totally off artificial sweeteners. There is no diabetic neuropathy, all the tests confirm this, however his leg pain persists. After careful consideration I think the physical therapist has the best answer. He says that the bones have become weak and brittle (, which is putting more pressure on the surrounding muscles! I attribute this to the phosphoric acids in diet pop ( or any pop for that matter) which he consumed so copiously after being told it was SO harmless. I just wish orthodox medicine would get their act together regarding the harmful effects of aspartame laced beverages. we would be so much better off. Supplementation can heal a multitude of ills, however could just be spared so much grief if given the right advice in the first place. We stand among the many who have suffered at the hands of Orthodox medicine, so wise in their own deceit! JoAnn Guest mrsjoguest DietaryTipsForHBP Friendsforhealthnaturally http://www.geocities.com/mrsjoguest/AIM.html One of Toms' physical therapists is of Indian descent. During his recent visit I just happened to mention how we had discovered the answers to Tom's diabetic problems in Auryvedic medicine. He acknowledged that Auryvedic practitioners are very good. Apparently however, they are not allowed to disclose any of the formulas they use. I thank God fervently each day that James A. Dukes or Michael T. Murray, the authors that first made me aware of the Auryvedic cures, didn't have those same concerns in publishing their books!
Guest guest
Way to go JoAnn, you keep showing them drs that you know what is best for Tom. I am so pleased that his progress is so good and pray that his painful legs get better very soon. You deserve so much more recognition than any of us can ever give you JoAnn, you never give up on a health issue, seeing everything through till all avenues have been explored and a 'cure' found. You may not be able to heal us but you sure as hell make life a lot more enjoyable.
