I need help and advice...

I am 27 year old female I had a brain tumor which crushed my pituitary gland

so was not producing estrogen and other endocrine problems. My doctor said

was treating me like menopausal patient since technically that is what I am

even though I am only 27 years old. I have osteoporosis my T score was -2.6

-1.3 in my hip

The options for me from my doctor was to begin fosamax immediately but I am

leery about that from what I have read from Mercola's site that it does

rebuild bone but the bone that it rebuilds is unsound

http://www.mercola.com/1998/archive/fosamax.htm

I told my doctor I feel very nervous about taking fosamax because this is

not just a one time thing.. this is like a lifetime thing.. something once i

make decision

am going to have to do for the rest of my entire life.. same with H.R.T

(hormone replacement therapy)

.... so , you can see why it is so important for me to make right decisions

right now

~from everything I have read about fosamax so far... it DOES increase your

bone density but

the bone it increases is no good... the bone is DENSER but not stronger so

its no good and you still fracture... the drug also makes you very sick

vomiting

etc .. I'm thinking don't want to make myself really sick taking drug years

on end that is not going to do any good :(

Bisposphonates accumulate in the skeleton for long periods so long term

safety remains an important question---the long term effects of the new

bisphonates on bone turnover and mechanical strength also remain to be

answered.

The other two options from doc were to begin hormone replacement as if I

were 60 years old :( Premarin for estrogen and Prometrium for progesterone

~from what I have read about H.R.T

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/11/20/eveningnews/main530133.shtml

this does not seem like a good option either :(

I think I am going to ignore my doctor

Am I being foolish?

What would you do??

Currently I am going the all natural route but have gone from osteopenic to

full blown osteoporosis so perhaps the natural route does not always work

.... perhaps I truly need the hormone replacement given what happened in my

brain and body due to tumor

help! help! I think I have more questions than I do answers at this point

:(

Any suggestions this group could give me for natural solutions or otherwise

would be helpful.

These are some things I am already doing proactively for myself in regard to

my bones...

Coral Calcium http://www.coralcalciumnow.com

rebounding

natural wild yam cream progesterone

Boron

MSM

Evening Primrose oil

I have all symptoms like menopausal woman... mood swings, dizziness, night

sweats, skin/vaginal dryness etc.

I need help
