Guest guest
hello. what is potassium good for? and at 99mg tablets how many a day should i take? my wife said it would be good for the heart but i don't know. Just an added caution i'm on two medications that could interfer with it. one is topamax and the other is resperadal. would it hurt to take potassium while taking the above mentioned meds? thanks. greg
Guest guest
Dear Greg; Potassium is a primary factor in one of the heart diseases and is almost certainly a key factor in rheumatoid arthritis and high blood pressure. Even young healthy adult males receiving less than 2000 milligrams per day do not receive enough for optimum. Food is the best and safest source. You can see how to increase potassium in foods at; http://members.tripod.com/~charles_W/arthritis9.html or by searching the keywords " potassium in foods " in Google. 99 milligrams is a joke. An onion has more than that. Pills usually contain potassium chloride, which is the fastest way to relieve a deficiency. However the chloride should not be taken routinely since, paradoxically, it increases blood pressure. If you must take supplements, I suggest you first read; http://members.tripod.com/~charles_W/arthritis11.html Sincerely, Charles Weber
