Guest guest
Shawn: I have found it has everything to do with diet. I used to experience the discomfort every night. I have found that eliminating sugars and wheat products has also eliminated my GERD. I haven't had any symptoms in over two years - lost quite a bit of weight too..... And I still don't believe spicy foods cause the condition to flare up - my favorite is Mexican and I like it really hot! I've even found I can eat corn tortillas without any problem....... Do a search on google for GERD and/or ACID REFLUX..... Good Luck! Kevin [Kevin McCall Whitt] Shawn Eaton [verbena38] Monday, August 04, 2003 9:40 AM Acid Reflux I was wondering if anyone knew what supplements I could take for acid reflux. My doctor has me on prilosec, but I really do not want to be stuck taking a medicine like this the rest of my life. I know I need to get my digestive track healthy and am working on that, but any information to help me do so would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Shawn
Guest guest
Theresa, check out the following link. The site has a lot of archival material. Take time to read and learn about GERD. Also search the archives for whole foods. The simplest way to reduce or eliminate acid reflux is to eat only foods that have no ingredient label and add essential fatty acids to your diet. Guest guest
A serious side-effect of GERD is bounce-back acid that actually burps up into the mouth - and causes tooth decalcification. Guest guest
Jerry, I agree with your post on this and the dental post. Why just do the allopathetic thing and treat symptoms, when you can eliminate the cause? Proper diet and nutrition will eliminate gerd fairly quickly. Same with the dental issue. Eliminate the formation of plaque, tartar, calculus, whatever. Acid producing bacteria such as streptococcus mutans and lactobacillus are anaerobic. Brushing and flossing will not eliminate them, or their byproducts nor will any kind of rinse. UNLESS the rinse is placed where they are residing. That is below the gumline. Correct the diet, such as doing a whole foods diet, and/or taking a decent calcium supplement will help remineralize the teeth. Will also stop caries from forming or getting worse. Another good dental site is http://mizar5.com/ then link to the dental section. This is Dr. Nara's work. I have also lost most of my teeth , only have about 4 left that are natural. So I will be looking deeper into what you have talked about. * * * * * * * Theresa Prayer Is Our Greatest Influence On The HEARTS Of Our CHILDREN
Guest guest
Are you saying acidophilus is 'bad' for the mouth. I take it orally as a 'probiotic'. barb --- Mike Frost <lincolnp1 wrote: > > > Acid producing bacteria > such as streptococcus mutans and > lactobacillus are anaerobic. Guest guest
MIKE, Nara and I met in Paris in 1967 when the 2 of us gave pesentations at the World Dental Conference that year. His son has since taken over his practice. They sell my book at the mizar5.com website. For more on it, see: www.zeevkolman.net/friends.shtml . Bev and I don't agree with a lot of Nara's nutritional material. She is a Fellow of The International Academy of Preventive Medicine - I was its pres. in '76. She's a CNC and has a degree in Medical Technology... did nutritional counseling in our office for many years. You're not entirely correct on your advice on oral hygiene. For more, you might want to see our newsletter. Reply with your street or pob address, and we'll get a copy to you. I have an informative packet, available to our readers, called Having Great Gums. You might benefit from it. Bev and I have lectured in over 40 states and in 11 dental schools on it (like they say, " Who listens? " ) We tried - and are still doing it - helping get the word out.
