If it is why?>> It's suggested that soy may disrupt thyroid hormone production and therefore it's questioned whether it can also disrupt medication absorbtion. Also, some people with thyroid problems notice adverse effects after consuming soy (hypo symptoms increase). For women, the question about soy and thyroid centers around the absorbtion of too much estrogen. There's a lot of evidence that an over abundance of estrogen causes some thyroid problems (soy increases estrogen). And then there's just basic health concerns about soy - or, certainly the quality of the soy produced in North America.
