Guest guest
Hey All, I recently visited my mother in the Midwest upon the death of my step- father. Shirley is 67 and the mother of six children, has undergone one partial and one full hysterecomy many years ago and has been on estrogen 21 day cycle for quite a few years. She says that when she began monthly B-12 shots several years ago her appetite decreased and she began losing excess weight. That was good, but then she has lost a significant amount of her taste for food and her upper lip is somewhat numb. It doesn't appear to be bells palsy as the other symptoms are not pronounced. The chiro and MDs don't have a clue and I've tried to get her to go to see an ND, there are two in her area. Anyway, I did a search on the internet and found it could be either a B-12 or zinc deficiency. As I don't think it could be the latter as she is getting the B-12 monthly injections, perhaps it's zinc deficiency. If anyone has any clue, can you share what you know? She also has a number of amalgam fillings, perhaps they could be responsible and need replacing? Also, mom has one cataract that the MDs said is not big enough to remove yet and has been on alergy shots for hayfever for years though has drainage from sinuses causing her to cough, gag a fair amount but claims the allergy shots make things better for her. She is quite active, running an antiques, shabby chic business and had a farm with my step dad for many years along with working for a Department of Defense plant along with my step dad. She doesn't smoke or drink, but does drink 2-3 cups of coffee every morning and eats what she calls a balanced diet, though doesn't enjoy food as much. She has many people that love her and she may be moving to Florida in the next several years to live closer to most of her children, except myself who live in California. Any input would be appreciated as I love my mother very much. Warmly, Kelly
