Peddling a bottle of rust

The barefoot doctor is at it again, this time peddling a bottle of rust. Read

all about it at http://www.askbillsardi.com/sdm.asp?pg=news & specific=69

The Barefoot doctor strikes again with a bottle of rust

By Bill Sardi

Not to be sidetracked by the Federal Trade Commission which sanctioned the maker

of Coral Calcium Supreme for making false health claims, the barefoot TV doctor

is at it again, this time with his Oxy Supreme dietary supplement. Forget that

calcium from coral in Okinawa really doesn't cure cancer as claimed, or that it

contains undesirable leavels of heavy metals like lead and aluminum, or that

calcium doesn't help people on Okinawa live longer (the coral has been there for

thousands of years yet the people on this Pacific island have only started

living longer in recent decades). Now you can build up your blood Oxy Supreme

which provides a full 26 milligrams of ferrous fumarate, the technical name for

iron.

Oh, there is no question that iron is required to make red blood cells. Red

blood cells carry oxygen to tissues. The barefoot doctor mistakenly claims that

delivery of more oxygen would kill cancer cells. This theory emanates from the

work of Nobel prize-winner Otto Warberg in the 1930s who discovered that cancer

cells lose their ability to produce energy from respiration (breathing oxygen)

and begin to produce energy from fermentation of sugar. However, the provision

of more oxygen to tumor cells is of little consequence since the oxygen is

unlikely to ever get to the cells. The iron in hemoglobin, the red pigment in

red blood cells, is likely to become detached and become a rusting agent to

generate tissue destruction and greater growth of tumor cells. Cancer cells rely

on iron for growth, a fact the barefoot doctor overlooks. The chelation

(removal) of iron from tumors brings about tumor shrinkage. Males, who build up

higher stores of iron in their bodies, have twice the rate of

cancer, diabetes, heart disease and infections compared to fertile females.

Women dump excess iron in their monthly menstrual cycle or donate it to their

offspring, escaping iron overload till surgically-induced or natural menopause

occurs.

The Oxy Supreme supplement also provides 3 milligrams of cesium, a rare,

naturally occurring element of alkali metal similar in chemical structure to

lithium, sodium, and potassium. Cesium is an alkaline mineral that is alleged to

kill cancer cells by its ability to make cancer cells, which are presumed to be

acidic, more alkaline (another of Otto Warberg's theories). The problem is that

1000 times more cesium was used in experimental cancer studies. Oxy Supreme also

provides 315 milligrams of calcium from a coral, as another alkaline source.

Recent studies have shown that cancer cells exhibit a neutral pH, more like 7.4,

and the surrounding connective tissue is more acidic with a pH of about 6.4.

Making cancer cells more alkaline will likely make them immortal.

WIth no balancing magnesium, Oxy Supreme is likely to produce brittle bones,

heart spasms, muscle cramping and constipation. But the good barefoot doctor's

legion of followers, many who profit by selling these poorly formulated

products, aren't quite ready to admit they are on the wrong road. It's sad to

see so many people follow a pied piper down the wrong path.
