Books will be available for purchase and signing. Tuesday, August 19, 7:00 PM: Granny will speak at the Fellowship Room of the Davis Community Church on 412 C Street in Davis. This event has been organized as a collaborative effort by various Davis peace groups and the Alliance for Democracy. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Wednesday, August 20, 7:00 PM: The Fort Bragg/Mendocino Alliance for Democracy is sponsoring a talk in Fort Bragg, location to be announced. Thursday, August 21, 7:00 PM: Book signing and talk at Mendocino's Gallery Bookshop on Main & Kasten St. in Mendocino. Friday, August 22, 4-8:00 PM: The Kucinich for President campaign will sponsor a picnic in Windsor (north of Santa Rosa) featuring Granny D as the main speaker. Entertainment will be provided by The Raging Grannies, Buddy Comfort, and The Folkmen. The picnic will take place at Keiser Park on 750 Windsor River Road. Click here for directions. A $10 donation is requested but no one will be turned away. Saturday, August 23, 10:00 AM - Noon: Sonoma's Alliance for Democracy and the California Clean Money Campaign will sponsor " A Tribute to Granny D " at the Forum Room of the Rincon Valley Regional Library, 6959 Montecito Blvd. in Santa Rosa. The public is warmly invited to attend at no charge. Saturday, August 23, 4 PM: Granny is scheduled to speak at SolFest, the Solar Living Institute's two-day celebration in Hopland. Granny's dear friend and fellow-firebrand Jim Hightower is also scheduled to speak (at 12:45). See the SolFest website for full details of all the interesting and entertaining activities taking place on Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, you can visit her web site and read all about her many activities bringing progressive political ideals to the far-flung corners of America. You can find her book (see jacket below) at most bookstores and online. It's recently been reissued in paperback under the title Granny D: You're Never Too Old to Raise a Little Hell. A delightful tale of her incredible journey, while at the same time an introspective look back at a life well-lived, Granny D's insight and wry humor will delight readers of all ages and political stripes. " We have a duty to look after each other. If we lose control of our government, then we lose our ability to dispense justice and human kindness. Our first priority today, then, is to defeat utterly those forces of greed and corruption that have come between us and our self-governance. " --Doris Haddock " Doris Haddock is a true patriot, and our nation has been blessed by her remarkable life. Her story will entertain, inform, and inspire people of all ages for generations to come.
