DOCS PRESCRIBE UNIVERSAL COVERAGE

A group of prominent physicians is launching a campaign for

a universal health plan similar to Canada's. They want

national health insurance that would cover every American

for all necessary medical care - in essence an expanded and

improved version of traditional Medicare. The physician's

campaign coincides with a rocky reception for many

Congressional representatives spending August in their

home districts. Many older voters are giving their senators

and representatives an earful about the proposed Medicare

drug benefit bills.
