Guest guest
The health benefits of bananas Dear Group, I thought this site might be interesting to some of you! Also, I have a banana bread recipe handed down to me from 1948 that is heavenly that you can bake for someone who is tense. Athena's Banana Bread 1/2 c. shortening or butter 1 1/2 c. sugar 4 T. milk 1 c. bananas, mashed 1 t. vanilla 2 eggs 1/2 t. salt 2 1/4 c. flour 1 t. soda 1/2 c. nuts (optional) Bake 350 degrees F till toothpick comes out clean - This recipe was hand copied by my mother for her mother at 10 in 1948 in Miami, Florida. It was a few years after the war, and butter, eggs and sugar were no longer rationed. The bread is moist, sweet and delicious, and fragrant especially if made with very ripe bananas. If you half the sugar, the bread will be stiffer and less moist but still good. But then you might want to put butter on it. Bananas are a super health food, and this bread is the best recipe I've ever tried. It's my very favorite recipe in the world. Make it for someone who is upset. Bananas are great for high blood pressure since they have potassium. It makes a great gift. Hope you like this recipe as well...let me know, ok?
