Guest guest
I wondered if anyone could offer any advice on hayfever? The more practical, the better. I bought some herbal remedies from Holland and Barrett today, only to get them home and find out they contained garlic and echinacea, nothing more. Is there any reason these would work? They look a bit placebo-ish to me. But I'm not an expert on herbs. People have recommended local honey, but living in the centre of Birmingham (UK) its hard to find such a thing. Also, I'm not willing to drink anything that comes out of my body. Other than that, pretty much open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance Ian

I'm not an herbalist either but I do know that garlic does help with hayfever. How exactly I'm not sure-but garlic and onion are good for hayfever, but it depends on the amount and it has to be fresh/raw form. But I wanted to share with you what has really worked for me in terms of hayfever. About 5 years ago I had horrid, just horrid hayfever. I started taking the freeze dried capsules of the herb Stinging Nettle. Obviously there is no overnight cure for hayfever in terms of herbs, but after about the first 3 to 4 months I did notice a difference. I live in New England and every late March I start to take the Stinging Nettle. I take the Nettle for about 3 months and then stop it. The Springs here can be filled with pollen and such. So, now I'm in my fifth year of taking Stinging Nettle and every year I seem to take less and less of it because now by the end of May I'm not needing it anymore. Wild huh? My husband who suffers from hayfever never takes his and I just shake my head and tell him that he should while he's sneezing, sniffling away. I don't think you can take this herb all year long (as with any herb). But take or start a little before your Spring starts. Good luck--hope this helps you. Guest guest
Ian, I rub the tea tree on my face, neat right out of the bottle. I rub it over my forehead, down the bridge of my nose and all over my cheekbone area. I am sure to pay special attention to any area on my face that feels tender to the touch. It always seems to help me. Tea tree is one of my favorite essential oils. Sherry Sherry L.
