Guest guest
Good morning all! I am about to go out of my skull here, so please excuse any abruptness - it's not meant to be. Is there any way to check and/or treat hypoglycemia and add/adhd without going to the doctor? I'm not sure I have either one, but I have many symptoms of each. The hypoglycemia is the most likely, since Grandma had diabetes and I'm definitely overweight. I have a coach who's helping me lose the weight, and has me on snacks and meals, cut back on sugar etc., but instead of making me feel better, I often feel worse. (I know there's a difference between hyper and hypo; I think I'm talking about hypo.) I'm going through some stress and pressure now, have about half a year to go to finish my Master's degree, and am hunting for a new job after being fired - someone's supposed to call today with possibly an offer, and I'm not even sure I want the job. I can't decide or figure out anything; my anxiety level is through the roof. I've had problems with these things before, but never this strong... The bad thing is that I have no insurance, and can't afford to pay cash, especially not after being out of work for three months. I won't be getting insurance and benefits if I get a part time job anyway. The last time my blood was checked was at the free annual fair in April, and everything was within normal limits, or a bit high - but not high enough to raise a red flag. When I do have money/insurance, I plan to go to the doctor, will likely change doctors now that Mom & Dad are both going to one; that way my family's history will be easy to follow. But until then, I am going bananas, and I'm tired of that . I know some things that I need to be doing - I have some Bach flower remedies, for example, and the diagrams for EFT tapping, but lately sitting down and concentrating has gone out the window. Those are the symptoms that are driving me crazy now --- I've got to close this off and get out of here before I get the phone call, because I don't know what to say; I'm scared either way. I may not even get chosen ... besides, I have another interview in about an hour. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks Theresa > Gentlemen, I believe we have much to discuss. Guest guest
Theresa I can't help you with the add/adhd. Except to say a blood sugar out of whack can cause similar symptoms. You need to be sure your blood sugar is low (hypo) and not (high). I was hypo for many years and leveled off, then started feeling the same way again, I thought I was hypo again then it turned out I was hyper. Hypo you need to eat many small meals, every 3 hours. Low carb, high protein, a little orange juice if you feel too low. No refined sugar. Can you buy a blood glucose meter to check your blood? Walgreens/Osco/CVS have a True Track Smart System that costs less than $20, sometimes they have an offer where you can get one free if you buy the test strips, you can get 50 of those for $30. That way you can be sure of what is going on. With the family history of diabetes you don't want to mess around, I know high stress can raise the blood sugar levels. Sorry I can't be of any real help. I do understand your financial situation. No money needed! Breathing and meditation might help you a lot. Has helped me through serious stressful times. There are free and wonderful breathing instructions found at Dr. Andrew Weil's website. www.Drweil.com. Just put in breathing in the keyword and it should show up I use his breathing techniques before bed and meditation during stressful times in my life. Hope this helps. Don't forget to breathe! Relax. What would you do if you had a diagnosis for either one? Start with the hypoglycemia. Small frequent meals, high in protein. Whole foods, no refined junk. Can't hurt if it won't help, and you won't need a doctor to try it! Ien in the Kootenayshttp://profiles./free_green_living
