Guest guest
Hello- Help! I am 34 weeks pregnant and have managed to come down with what looks like a sinus infection! Does anyone have any recommendations of what I can take to get rid of it? I DO NOT want to take antibiotics. I have been taking a magnolia flower combination which seems to have worked drying up my sinuses, but this morning I woke up and am having some " colored " discharge. I would appreciate homeopathic advice. Thanks! DeeDee
Guest guest
DeeDee, I'm not a service provider, an MD, or otherwise credentialed to give medical advice - but I am a sufferer of chronic sinus infections. I also will do ANYTHING else before taking antibiotics. If you've already got a full blown infection, I'm not sure if this will help or not. Look for a product called " Simply Saline " . Most regular pharmacies will carry this. It is a saline nose spray. As far as I know, that's all it is. If anyone here can verify, that would be great. Anyway, sit yourself down with the spray, a box of facial tissue, and a pot of steaming water. Spray, sniff steam and blow. And blow, and blow. I have been able to " fend off " an approaching sinus infection in this manner. I used to get a few every year. I have polyps (non-cancerous), but have been hesitant to have surgery because I've been informed that they just grow back. Also, I avoid the knife/laser at all costs. Oh, and I'm not sure if it really helps with the infection, but I find comfort from eucalyptus essential oil. If you don't have a conventional device to put the oil in, I think if you add a few drops to the pot of steaming water that would work. Hope this helps - keep us posted and good tidings with your upcoming adventure!! Again, this is just what I do and have not done it while pregnant (never needed to), so please don't take this as an expert opinion. My husband just told me I should not be giving advice out to pregnant women and I wanted to make all this clear. , " deedeedraz " <deedeedraz wrote: > > Hello- > Help! Guest guest
Hello DeeDee, I am a homeopath and would like to advise you to not experiment yourself with homeopathy especially during pregnancy and consult a classified homeopath. Also jala neti works wonders for sinus infections. This is a way of nasal irrigation or washing of the sinuses with water and salt. You can find a lot of info on this on the internet. Hope this is of help to you. Love and light, Baba Jaga , " deedeedraz " <deedeedraz wrote: > > Hello- > Help! Guest guest
Deedee, Have you ever heard of neti pots? They are a way of snorting salt water into your sinuses. What does the rest of the board think? Ien in the Kootenays ************************** Stop. Breathe. Guest guest
Dear Dee, Try chicken soup, too...it has over 300 compounds that act like penicillin. Also eating oranges could not hurt Athena
Guest guest
Re: sinus infection I recently had " swimmer's ear " (for 3 whole weeks!) and a sinus infection at the same time. I bought some swimmers ear drops after reading an internet recipe, and I could have saved money! They were just vinegar and alcohol. Anyway, also gargle with salt water as many times as you can. The last things you try are the ones that work Hope you feel better soon! Athena

These things are totally safe during pregnancy, and I used them often. As you may know, garlic is a powerful infection fighter and you may take it in the form of capsules or use fresh. I always have capsules on hand and would take 2 every few hours until the infection was over. I used Emergen'C which is 1000 mg. of vit. C plus B vitamins and minerals. You may take it up to 3 times a day while pregnant. If you don't have a neti pot, you can use an ordinary bulb syringe and dissolve a few pinches or sea salt in some warm water, fill the syringe and Gently squeeze the solution into one side of your nose, over a sink, and let it drain out of the other side of your nose. You don't want to inhale it of course! This discourages any germs from remaining in your nose or sinuses. The garlic fights the infection and of course the Vit. C boosts your immune system. It's a cheap and effective way to fight off infections; I must have done it 3 times when I was pregnant. And I still use this method now that I'm not! I won't take antibiotics either. Avoiding sugar won't hurt either! Good Luck! and Take Care, ~Connie Get your email and more, right on the new .com
