Guest guest
Hi, I just joined your wonderful group and have read all I could find on sciatica. This is my second round of it, in both legs now. I am having an MRI tomorrow to find the root cause physically, but I want to treat it with alternative meds. I am doing chiro and deep massage already. I am starting the stretches. Could someone give me more information about Shegoi? Proper form to take and dosage? And does it really work for sciatica? Also need advise for the right kind of gentle exercise to do for this. I wrecked it doing lower body nautilis this time. Thanks, Jeanne
Guest guest
I had sciatica for years in my left leg. I also had a knotted posterior tibial tendon which required surgery. After we got thru with the tendon, the therapist tackled the sciatica and it is has now been gone for six years, but it takes absolute dedication to the process and most people cannot or will not even try it because of they work. First and most important was that I had to lay on my stomach for two weeks all except for when I went to the restroom. It has to have time to heal and the constant pressure on it, even the stretches just make it irritated. Then three times a day, do 3 sets of 10, mini, mini pushups. Just raise yourself up enough to feel the pain. You will most likely not even get your chest off the floor. As you do this you will feel the pain begin to disappear starting with your toes and working its way up you leg , or as far down as the contraction has solidified in your leg. You continue this raising up a little further as the pain goes away. If you have the pain while doing anything during the day, just do the exercise. I never took any meds. One day, you will feel the pain pop into your lower back and you have to stop immediately going any further up with the body raises. Continue at that set point where there is no pain in the leg or the lower back to rebuild you muscle strength .. If you work and can't do the first two weeks try to do at least a weekend or long weekend if possible. I am sure that the amount of time it take for it to cure itself and readjust the muscles so that they do not pinch the nerve depends on how long you have had the problem. For me that leg is shorter than the other one and I had sciatica for at least 30 years, and it probably took me about 4 months to get rid of it this way. Once it is gone, you become very aware of when you have your body in a position to put pressure back on that area and seem to stop yourself by adjusting your position naturally. For those who are not bothered by sciatica but have a loved one who is, it really becomes a constant pain and there is no way to tell what is aggravating it because the swelling becomes permanent. _____ On Behalf Of Jeanne Stump Thursday, October 26, 2006 3:29 PM Sciatica Hi, I just joined your wonderful group and have read all I could find on sciatica. Guest guest
Jeanne, I used to suffer with Sciatica myself. Sometimes the pain being so severe I would walk with a prominent limp. I added a fish oil supplement to my diet (I'm not big on eating fish). If you like fish I would add more fish to your diet. If not, I would find a good therapeutic quality fish oil that has been tested to make sure it doesn't contain mercury. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Jeanne, You might try having massage on the gluteals and piriformis and on your neck, esp, down by the collar bone. This has been very beneficial for my clients and has no side effects. Yes, the neck and " but " are associated. The sciatic nerve comes out of the spine and travels through the gluteals, etc, and down into the leg. Any of these muscles that are tight and wrapped around the sciatic nerve, which is quite large, would cause pain. They become tense and constricted with exercise such as stair climbing. See your trainer for ways to stretch this area. Sciatica is, also, often associated with being hypocritical or the fear of money or the fear of the future. Using the following affirmation may help: " I move into my greater good. My good is everywhere, and I am secure and safe " Disease is also related to " stinkin thinkin " .
