Guest guest
Hello. I want to share an interesting connection. Six years ago I got a prescription for weight control...ORLISTAT/Xenical. Xenical works by eliminating all the fat from your body. You can eat the greasiest cheeseburger and within an hour or so..you go to the bathroom for a potential bowel movement and instead fill the toilet bowl with all the grease you have consumed... Weight loss is effortless and quick. I used Xenical for 6 months with every meal. My weight dropped from 170 to 135. I looked great but began feeling fatigued and losing my balance..even though I followed my doctor's advice and took vitamins everyday. The fatigue problem went on for weeks so the doctor gave me vitamin shots and said it was associated with menupause and depression... Well Ladies and Gentlemen, one fine saturday morning I went to pick up my coffee cup and it fell out of my hand...paralysis quickly set in and I was rushed to the hospital for a possible stroke....While in the hospital total paralysis set in on the left side of my body....Brain biopsy revealed MS so I was put on mega doses of steroids and recovered nicely....no MS relapse since then. My understanding of MS is that the fatty tissue(myelin) surrounding the nerve is destroyed and causes the disease. Am I making any sense? I welcome your comments. thank you. Guest guest
Hi Denise, I am so glad to see this topic opened to discussion here. Thank you! Everyone needs some fat in their diet in order for their bodies to function properly. They also need some sugar, preferably from fruit. I remember reading years ago about a man who was stranded in northern Alaska all winter. He barely survived by trapping birds, mice and rabbits and eating whatever else he could scrounge. When he was rescued the following spring the first thing the rescuer did was heat a pan of lard and have him drink it. Although the man said that later the thought made him a little nauseous, at the time he craved the fat so much he licked the pan. Then there is the incidence of the man in northern Australia who got lost and wandered for a couple of months before being found. He found some food to eat but nothing with sugar in it. After a month or so he began to become disoriented and so fuzzy minded that he was losing touch with reality. He finally found some berries and gorged on them. The sugar intake began to clear his head and he found help and was rescued. The brain cannot function without some sugar. Cholesterol is required for the brain to develop in children and for our brains to function properly. Fat is needed for the nervous system and for the lubrication of joints. I shudder when I see parents put their children on fat free diets and milk. But, be sure you are consuming the right kinds of fats, such as good olive oil etc. Eat Italian. And, make allowances for your own metabolism. Everyone is not metabolically set to be bone thin. Obesity is basically caused by eating too much or a metabolic problem. Metabolic problems such as Cushing's disease or low thyroid, etc. can be medically corrected but you will probably have to keep after your doctor to test to be sure you don't have a medical problem. They tend to brush women's weight problems aside. Overeating is a matter of self control and to me seems to be the hardest to correct. We eat because we are happy or because we are sad or lonely. We eat because it tastes so good!! We eat for comfort when frustrated. We eat because we are bored and hence unactive. Unless a person can remove all stress from their life overeating is a possibility. But radically removing all fat or sugar from our diets is so destructive that it should be avoided at all costs. Your connection between MS and the lack of fat in your diet is very insightful and most likely correct. Of course, some people simply do not metabolize fat correctly in their bodies which may account for some cases of MS. I look forward to reading all the comments that will be offered regarding your observation. And, thank you again for this very interesting post. Guest guest
How many mercury fillings do you have in your mouth. Some Dr's are attributing MS to Mercury poisoning. If you have these fillings have them biologically removed and soon. The Xenical could have leached a lot of vital nutrients from your bowel lining as well as messed up your electrolytes. There are places that will check your levels. Just some thoughts. Daphne , " ddharris32 " <ddharris32 wrote: > > Hello. I want to share an interesting connection. Guest guest
When Lewis and Clark went across America in the winter, they were very sick. The Indian woman melted lard and gave it to them to drink and it cleared their symptoms right away. We all need a certain amount of fat to be healthy Many years ago I raised a wild blackbird that had fallen out of its nest and wound up with a broken leg that never healed right, so I kept the bird inside and raised it. He lived to be 10 years old before passing away. But, when he was about 2 years old he started one night to have seizures! I sat up with him all night and in the morning called my vet (didn't know about emergency calls back then). He didn't know what to do so he called his friend who was the bird vet at the Chicago zoo. He asked what the bird ate and I told him seed, and sometimes worms and crickets. He told me that birds NEEDED a certain amount of sugar, so to give him fruit in season and during the winter to give him graham crackers, as the crackers had enough sugar for him, plus the graham was good for him. As soon as he got sugar in his little body, the seizures stopped and never came back. Samala Renee ---- Everyone needs some fat in their diet in order for Their bodies to function properly. Guest guest
That is very interesting. In my studies I've learned that MS is one of many autoimmune disorders caused from nutritional deficiencies and/or toxic overload. I've never heard of Xenical before or what is in it. I do know of course that are bodies need healthy fats in order to maintain health. I recently heard of a vaccination that is supposed to prevent obesity. The idea being you can eat whatever food you like in whatever quantity and not become overweight. I'm sure this will become a popular solution for obesity for many people and unfortunately these people will continue to eat poorly and eat too much and even though they may be slim their diets will continue to wreak havoc on the inside of the body. Then add to this the possible toxic effects of the vaccine in the body. I'm a big advocate for losing weight through a healthy, balanced diet, exercise and herbs. It takes longer, but it's the healthy way. Blessings, Michelle Newport, CHC, CH Certified Herbalist Nature's Sunshine Manager http://www.mynsp.com/natureforlife Nature For Life P.O. Guest guest
Hi Daphne. I had a mouthful of mercury fillings at the time....and my teeth began to fall out so I had them all removed and wear dentures... Perhaps it was the combination of mercury and malnutrition that caused the MS. You make an excellent point. Thank you for responding. Guest guest
More on the necessity of fat: The Native American term " Wasichu " for white man literally means " he who grabs the fat " . Fat was prized as a necessity of life, especially towards the end of winter. In " Never Cry Wolf " Farley Mowat describes how his diet of mice was starting to give him big problems till he started eating them the way wolves do: including the guts with their surrounding fat. When the British Princess Margareth was introduced to (forget her real name) the first of the super skinny super models, the girl said: I am xxxxx, but most people call me Twiggy. At which the Royal said: " Oh, how unfortunate.... " Ien in the Kootenays http://profiles./free_green_living
