Guest guest
taking verapamil for headache and bp . Not working for the headache but my pb is just fine. Ive changed my lifestyle, eating and exericise habits. Since my bp is down. I thought about not taking it for a couple days and check my bp a couple times a day. 2. He first said my headaches were because of high blood pressure. My bp goes down and he changes his mind and says its the ziac causing it. he then prescribed verapamil for pb and headache. Since my bp is down, i made the decision to just take the verapamil. I also take a headache med and naproxin which don't work. Today i decided to take the ziac and verapamil at the same time because its what he originally said. Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker. Im also feeling more nervous and restless legs the past 3 weeks. My headaches are not something that comes and goes. Its a 24 hour a day headache , thats just more worse at times. It literally feels like my head is gonna explode. My headaches are next to my temples and next to my ears on my face for some reason. Nowhere else. Guest guest
There are a number of ways of treating these conditions without resorting to bp medication but once you are on it it is sensible to use it as prescribed until your doctor tells you that it is ok not to. Some meds and i think cc blockers come into this category can cause withdrawal reactions if you come off them straight away. they need to be tailed off. Be honest with your gp . tell him you dont want to take meds unless absolutely necessary.that gets him off the hook and allows him the freedom to not prescribe unless he feels it is absolutely necessary as he is then complying with your instructions. ian On Behalf Of Chris 28 October 2006 18:32 Anyone here ever went off meds without telling your doc taking verapamil for headache and bp . Guest guest
If you want to switch to a natural solution rather than taking the medications I would let your doctor know this so he can work with you to make the switch. It is not recommended to take natural remedies at the same time as taking blood pressure medications. Even when switching to a natural remedy it is best to have your doctor check your blood pressure to make sure you're in a healthy range. If you don't feel your doctor will be willing to work with you on this, I would try to find a doctor who would be. Hawthorn berries are an excellent cardiovascular tonic and lowers blood pressure by dilating blood vessels. Deficiency in Coenzyme Q10 can also raise blood pressure. Essential fatty acids (omega 3 and 6) have a thinning effect on the blood and is also beneficial. Lowering salt intake can also help. But, again I would recommend that you work with your doctor in order to get you where you want to be. Guest guest
I am always changing my meds w/o telling the doc. He hates it! He calls me Dr. Page. Just one thing though. Make very sure that you know the meds and how they should be stopped. Many you have to stop very slowly. It is your body. Do what you think is best for you and keep yourself informed. The docs seem to just want to willy-nilly try one drug and then another w/o much thought of your lifestyle or even other meds that might interact. Guest guest
Chris, Without having done any type of evaluation or knowing much about your background it is hard for me to say what is a particular dose or how often. I can give general recommendations in order to point you in the right direction, but prefer to be working with a client closely to monitor how a protocol is working for them. I recommend finding someone local to you that you can work with you rather than guessing at what might or might not work - especially when dealing with a more serious type of ailment like high blood pressure and the fact that you are currently on medication.
