Guest guest
It has been brought to my attention that there are several active chemicals in Reishi and Shiitake mushrooms. Does anyone know how one could extract these for medicinal use? Better yet, where could I find some information so I could do it my self. thanks
Guest guest
I would not recommend doing this. Any extraction would involve very toxic chemicals -- for example, to get caffeine out of coffee beans, methylene chloride is commonly used. You don't want to mess with that stuff. With mushrooms in particular, any beneficial effect is generated by the synergy of chemicals, not by any single compound. You will find that in nature, single chemicals (like caffiene) that have an effect in herbs and can be easily extracted and still have the same effect, are rare. Guest guest
Thanks. I do know that it has been done before, and I'd like to find the most effective way of using the healing components. I know that heat is necessary. Do you know of any credible sources where I could get such information? herbal remedies, Michael Riversong <rivedu@e...> wrote: > I would not recommend doing this.
