Sara, try red raspberry leaf tea. One cup a day kept me nausea free during my 3 pregnancies. Steep 1 tablespoon in 8 oz. cup of hot water 15 minutes. Sweeten with honey and pour over ice if you like. The few days I didn't drink this tea during my 1st trimester I couldn't even sip water without vomiting, and getting dehydrated just makes things worse. As for cravings, it was different for each pregnancy. With my first I couldn't get enough hot hot hot Mexican food YOUCH! On the other hand if anyone came within smelling distance of me with any red meat I felt queasy. You are almost past the worst of the tummy troules though :-)

Re: [herbal remedies] Sourpuss, Activated

I think you might be craving vit C. I have a book that suggest between 2000-4000 mg a day divided up for a pregnant woman. (It says that help w/labor too.)You might try to thin the juice with water. I completely understand things making you nauseated. I didn't eat anything for the several months that I didn't see again :-P Have you tried switching water to bottled or using a filter or purifier? Maybe there is something in the water (mineral or chemical) that you can't tolerate right now. Hey Sara,

Glad that the Activator Method is working for you. The thing I like

about it is that it does fix what is wrong and then you don't have to do

any more treatments on that area. There is an end in sight.

Regarding the juice cravings ... not sure, but this could possibly be

leading to gestational diabetics (diabetics during pregnancy only). Check

with your caregiver. My suggestion is to drink the water, eat saline crackers

(for nausea) and take lots of walks (get fresh air and exercise). I've

had 2 kids (no morning sickness, fortunately). I ate very well for my daughter

(now 13) and didn't really have any cravings. For my son (now 6) I ate

a lot of meat (which I didn't usually do) and wanted more sweets. Well,

he is a carnivore <LOL>! Hope all goes well for you. I know a great

midwife in the LA area if you need anything.

another way to combine these two infobits into one post.

First, THANKS for

the recommendation to see an "Activator"-trained chiropractor;

I've been

for three appointments now (fourth is tomorrow) and the difference

is night

and day! My shoulder still hurts a little now and then, but

it was loads

better the second I first stepped out of that office, and it's

been getting

even better ever since! Amazing! (Apparently I had/have

some pretty nasty

chiropractic maladjustments going on, especially in the top few

vertebrae

in my neck.) Normally I would mistrust anyone who said, "oh,

this is going

to take several visits to cure, hem hem", but I can't ignore the

fact that

I keep feeling better every time!

Second thing: As most of you know, I'm pregnant (almost 3

months now) and

I'm having some weirdness when it comes to my food & fluid

intake. For the

most part I try to eat what my body seems to want--I did this before

I was

pregnant because it seemed like a good idea; now I do it to avoid

puking!

(And it works, too.) Pre-pregnancy I drank about 5 full glasses

of water a

day, sometimes more. But ever since the nausea started, water

has been

irritating to my stomach (huh?) and I find I can only sip it occasionally

or I get really queasy. What I've been craving like *mad*

though, is fruit

juice, especially acidic ones like orange & grapefruit.

Now I realize I'm

drinking 1-2 glasses of water a day (and having to force myself

to at

that), and probably gallons of juice (if you count the fruit I'm

eating on

top of it). Is this okay?? And if it is, can somebody

tell me how to get

my tongue to stop being sore from it? *lol*

Thanks again all,

Sara T.

Whatever women end up craving during pregnancy is probably what is needed

most. Lots of women get into this sweet/sour thing -- Rose is doing it now

too. She's about 4 months along on her 2nd. Yesterday she wanted 3 cucumbers

drenched in viniagrette, and then a chocolate shake to wash it down.

Yes, some of the stuff that is needed may seem weird, awful, unhealthy, or

whatever. But we firmly believe there's some good reason for each of these

cravings. Now sometimes it might be a good idea to look around for something

natural that is similar to the product of industrialized food conglomerates

that might be wanted, if it's really something stupid like Oreos or Tootsie

Rolls. Otherwise, go with it and have fun.

As for the sores from drinking too much juice, perhaps a little soy milk now

and then will help.

And congratulations on finding a good chiropractor!
