That is a tough one Ann. With autistic children or adults for that matter, any thing may or may not get a reaction. I would try Frankincense, sandalwood, melissa, and basil eugenol (basil with a high eugenol content). Is your son old enough to do a total body cleanse? Bowel cleanse? Liver cleanse?

Re: [herbal remedies] new herb supply co.

Don,He's autistic(my son). Any EO in particular that would do anything? Also, what about lessened sense of smell. I saw a post on that earlier. My smell comes and goes(mostly goes). I still have nasal allergies(they are getting better) and always thought that had something to do with it.Ann

Hi Ann, Our sense of smell is directly tied into the limbic portion of our brain. It is the only sense of the five that goes immediatly to the brain, it does not pass go or anything. All the other senses have to go through proper routing channels etc. What else would you like to know? This is why EO's have such a profound effect on us because they stimulate that section of our brain which deals with emotions, memories and such.DonFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. If you are pregnant, consult your physician before using any natural remedy. 3. The Constitution guarantees you the right to be your own physician and toprescribe for your own health. Don't forget the neti pot too. I have not used one but I do know how it works. I usually just stick my head in a bowl of water and inhale through my nose. Guess that is the hard way to do it. Some day I will buy a neti pot.

HHHmmmmmmmmmmm... never thought about that helping the sinus and allergy situation - thanks don... I'll have to try that... sometimes my brain is "out in the pasture"...... Suzi Donald Eitner wrote:

As for allergies, this is just a sign your body is giving you. Your liver most likely is toxic and congested. It cannot deal with the environmental allergens (proteins and such). A good thorough liver cleanse and even the total body cleanse would most likely help you with sinus allergies and may even improve your sense of smell.

This is good. It will help him. This is something that you may have to do a number of times. Realize that just because you do a liver cleanse once does not necessarily mean that the liver is now totally cleansed. It does take time. Helichrysum is a very good oil. Most people really like the effects they get from it.

OK. I couldn't take it any more and had to go look up what a neti pot was.

Here is a link that discusses it and nasal cleaning:

I have learned something new today and I think I might try this. Ahh

Hi Shelly,

I am sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I did not mean to offend you and hope that I haven't. I do realize that you probably were aware of this fact. I do wish to let you know some eo's that are considered safe to use during pregnancy though. Cardamon, German Chamomile, Roman Chamomile, Clary sage, Coriander seed, Geranium, Ginger, Lavender, Neroli, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Rose, Rosewood, and Sandalwood to name a few.

Well Shelly,

Thank you. Just keep on learning all you can about them. They are truly fascinating in their action on the body. Besides that they smell really nice, at least most of them do. :~) Some of them are quite interesting to cook with as well. But be careful with them as most of them are contraindicated in women who are pregnant and/or nursing.

True, but if you're "hot" to the touch from like heatstroke, peppermint oil and water will take the heat out - too much and it can cause shivers... (learned from experience)... Suzi

If it's a headache from sinus or allergy - grab some Vics vapor rub or Ben gay (close your eyes) and rub on temples forhead, on neck below the ears, the sinus passages that go in the cheek area - believe me this will open it up and clear the headache too....

Okay, I will throw my .02 cents worth in. It will do this true. But, did you know that 1 drop of Essential Oil of Peppermint is equal to 26 cups of peppermint tea? I didn't until a few days ago. I am still looking for the proof of this statement. I think that maybe it is because it takes that amount of peppermint herb to make 1 drop of Essential Oil.

Well, like I mentioned, if you take the amount of herb that it takes to make 26 cups of tea and you were to distill it then you might only get one drop of Essential oil. I mean it takes a lot of rose petals to make 1 ounce of rose oil. So maybe this is how they figure it. But I am still checking on this and will let you know if and when I ever find out.

Peppermint is a wonderful anti-spasmotic and fairly cheap as well. Something I try to keep at all times in the cupboard. Blends well with most herbs too.
