Hi Cheryl,

I too used to be a mosquito smorgasbord. There could be 20 people around me and the mosquitoes would target me. That is up until I changed my diet and quit eating meat and processed foods. I think I have had maybe two mosquito bites in two years. But yes, brewers yeast and garlic help. Our bodies give off odors that these critters like especially when we are eating meat and processed foods. Go strictly vegan and they can't seem to find you unless they just happen to get lucky.

[herbal remedies] Brewer's yeast???

My daughter is very tasty to Mosquitos and fleas, I recently read that Brewer's yeast is very good for repelling fleas in pets. Something to do with vitamin B. Can I dose my daughter safely with it? Would good old Aussie Vegemite do the trick? For those who don't know it's made with concentrated yeast extract. Per 100g has 11.0 g thiamine, 8.6 mg riboflavin, 50.0 niacin, folate and 3060mg sodium. 5g gives 50% RDI thiamine and folate, the others are 25% RDI. The sodium may sound a bit high but seeing as we never add salt to our food and with the start of summer looming, it shouldn't be too bad. The trick will be getting her to eat it, she doesn't really like it (Some Aussie! What I get for marrying a 2nd generation Australian LOL) I love it, can eat it by the spoonful.CherylFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. It is okay Cheryl....life is about choices. We all need to do what we feel is right for ourselves. No one else can make these choices. I do wish you the best in your search for health. You will attain it eventually, we all do.

[herbal remedies] Re: Brewer's yeast???

Thanks to all for your answers.Sorry Don a vegan diet is not my cup of tea, though I am trying to cut down on processed foods, enjoy my meat too much. That said, the weather is warmer and I am starting to introduce more raw foods into our diet, I don't see the harm in going no meat for some meals. Though some people in my family would. My father can't understand why I don't cook with salt or add it at the table, he does both.Suzi,Am going to look for Vitamin B tomorrow.Cherylherbal remedies, "Donald Eitner" <eitner.d@m...> wrote:> Interesting how there are not a lot of mosquitos around but so many people are getting 'bit' and contracting the West Nile virus.> > Don> - > Suzanne Nottmeier > herbal remedies > Tuesday, September 24, 2002 8:49 AM> Re: [herbal remedies] Brewer's yeast???> > > Cheryl, > > I'm usa... and I don't care for the taste.... had to take the powder as a child for acne.. powder on cereal, oj, etc....
