My dad has always done aversion of the Neti Pot...

with water in his cupped hand he'll "snuff" the water up and out swiftly several times... Kind of like plunging a drain...

 

He swears by this.

I don't see it as being dangerous. It is not like I am trying to drown myself. I am just trying to rinse out the nasal passages. I do believe that the Neti Pot would work much better but because I don't happen to have one I make do with the next best thing. Does sound kind of like a strange thing to do though when I stop and think about it. LOL
