Guest guest
Excellent idea. Lisa turned me on to Instant Messenger, and there went a day of my time just playing LOL ;o) We received the results of our survey back and it seems as if Sat Morning is the best time for all of us to be on the list chat. We are not limited to Sat, however and if one and all gets the YIM you can set up a chat anytime, and program your ID to show that you're in a chat and then others can join in if they wish. Also, the list chat room is open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week and all members are welcome to use it anytime. We can play with this. As it stands, I've got over 300 emails to wade through, and using the list as a chat forum is not the best of ideas though I'm sure Don and Suz weren't thinking about the consequences ;o) Even though things are slow some evenings, going to a chat forum is better than having the rest of us wake up to a hundred emails. Especially, when the major topic is Goats and other critters ROTFLOL (I'm a little guilty there myself ;o) If anyone has a problem on where to find the Instant Messenger (YIM) for downloading, I'm sure Lisa can help out with this. I must admit I was somewhat dismayed this morning (GMT time in the U.K.) to find 91 emails from Herbal Remedies, with over half of them you two chatting away through (my) night. Now, I certainly do not wish to stop any of us chatting as I think it's great that we're getting along so well, but may I suggest a better way of doing it? As we all obviously have IDs, why don't you download Instant Messenger, and chat on that? That way it's not on the list to overload everyone's inbox, and everyone can still chat away to their heart's content. You can link in as many people as you like to chat as a group also if you want. Would that be okay with you all? Regards, Lisa - melesana herbal remedies Wednesday, September 25, 2002 10:10 PM [herbal remedies] Herbal Remedies and Other Topics I joined this list hoping to give and get information about herbal remedies. I've done some of that and enjoyed it; thank you. I'm looking for a way to continue doing that. I have carpal tunnel syndrome, and I don't need to read the messages that say hi and bye and thanks and welcome. I can't find a way to distinguish them from the messages about herbal remedies without opening them all. I tried relying on subject headings and found that they don't indicate the subject. The sender is usually a pretty good indication, so I'm deleting messages from the people I've noticed send most of the social messages. There are far more greeting messages than content messages, so I still get some, but fewer.I gather it's not the style of this list to limit messages to the list subject, or to the message subject, or to indicate that posts are off topic. Is there any other way you'd be willing to streamline the list?Meg
