Guest guest
Hi, I have to disagree with the post regarding St. John's Wart and no side effects. Herbs can give some side effects. I tried St. John's Wart 3 different times and all three times had a racing heart and shaky feeling. It made me fall asleep, but having a racing heart is certainly not a good thing. As with anything, I think we need to try herbals carefully and see what is right for each individual. Take Care, Gina

Guest guest
Dear Gina, I agree that we need to educate ourselves in order to take full responsibility for the physical condition of our families, but one needs to determine what exactly the effect is that is being created. You use the word "side effect" rather than just using the word "effect". One does have to determine what herb is being used and for what purpose, and of course this is where education comes in. The "side effect" you are referring to in your use of St. John's Wort could simply have been the turning on of a detox. SJW can do that. Soooooooo, yes! One should educate oneself, but NOT at the expense of "Doing Nothing" or for the sake of being "careful". I've never known of anyone who has done any damage by using natural, organic herbs. Never!!! And this includes those who have used them incorrectly. One should respect them for what they can do, but one should never fear them nor fear to use them. Even that "racing heart" and the "shaky feeling" you experienced may have done you some good in the long run. I can guarantee you, you did NO damage unless you were using herbs that had been irradiated or had been grown in some third world country where the amount of pesticides were so abundant as to make the herbs toxic rather than medicinal. Hope this helps.
