Guest guest
Namaste Hope everyone had a great christmas!!!! I am having trouble lately with commercial shampoos. Every shampoo I use ( and i have tried many) after a couple of washes my skin reacts badly ( face) coming up red and dry. I don't let the shampoo go on my face at all, I'm thinking maybe it's the perfumes in it. Also my scalp becomes very itchy and lately is itchy all the time. Has anyone any ideas an what I can use? Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks Cassandra
Guest guest
I found a great shampoo and conditioner...errmmmm....(had to go look, lol) Avalon Salon. It's all natural, made from essential oils...you can actually READ the ingredient label, lol. And I found it in the GROCERY STORE!!! They also have a website, but I'm not sure if they sell from the website. You might do good using some sort of all natural shampoos...also, go to the health food store and see if they have other types of natural shampoo. Make sure whatever you get does not have any artificial perfumes, colors, etc. Until you find something, make sure you wash your face well after using it. Wash your hair first and then the rest of you. I would also give your hair a good rinse with diluted Apple cider vinegar to be sure you get out all residues then rinse with water. The vinegar smell does go away, so don't worry, you won't smell like a salad, LOL. You can also add essential oils such as Lavender to your apple cider vinegar. Guest guest
Hi Cass, have the same problem. Only store bought shampoo that doesn't bother me is Nexus Peppermint. I am looking forward to making my own though. Lavender, tea tree, peppermint, and nettles all help with this problem. You might consider adding MSM both externally and internally as well. Guest guest
I had a pretty bad reaction to a cream on my face. It turns out that it was probably a reaction to a sulfite ingredient. Many people are sensitive to sulfites and don't even realize it. I have spent ages (actually only about 5 intense weeks) researching what products contain sulfites (almost everything) and what other household product ingredients are harmful. I have been switching out products in my house and have seen an improvement even though the change is not yet complete. In my research I have come across several product lines that are really awesome. Not only are they sulfite-free, but they also don't contain the carcinogens and toxins that are in most of the other popular brands. My research has really left me in a state of shock about our everyday household products, I have spent quite a bit of money trying out different brands and so far here are some of my favorites: Pretty much anything by Aubrey Organics is good so far as the ingredients go. They have hair care products, a few cosmetics, body care products, etc. They have a web page where you can read about their stuff, but if you want to purchase, it's cheaper to do so at VitaminShoppe.com. Many natural health food stores also carry it. They have a " Vegecol " line that is for really sensitive people, like me! Note - when the shampoos get healthier, you lose a bit of the lather quality. It takes some harmful ingredients to get the good lather you're used to. You just have to get over that - your hair will still get clean and it will look great. As for toothpastes, Jason Naturals and Waleda are 2 really good brands that are very healthy. A few taste just a smidge medicinal, but I love them both and can't decide which to stick with. I may switch off. Caution - these 2 brands also carry shampoos, but they contain sulfites and are not as good as the other brands. Waleda's baby lotions are nice. California Baby is fabulous and is not just for babies. Very healthy ingredients. Their shampoo and body washes are very nice. I use the extra sensitive version. They have a calendula cream that is amazing! So is their lip creme, which comes in 3 colors and clear. I use the red during the day (which is not dark - it's more like a gloss)and my husband absolutely loves the clear. Vitamin Shoppe does not carry their stuff - I ended up ordering directly from C.B. and they also included several free samples of other stuff. I saw another reply which mentioned Avalon Shampoos. That was one of the first shampoos I tried after all my trouble started. It was wonderful - cleaned great and smelled fabulous. But then after more research on ingredients, I realized that even though it was better than what I'd been using, it contained several ingredients that I was trying to get away from. Hope this helps! -Denise
