Guest guest
I am allergic to sulphur and when I take herbs suppliments that have it in them I get sick. MSM, Golden seal root, and Enchinna made me sick and when I was taking garlic I felt real tired and achey and sick too. A little garlic in cooking is fine for me, but I avoid new herbs. All of those "miracle" herbs that are suppose to be natural antiobotics have sulfur in them and will make me sicker than the origional complaint.Linda Duke <LDuke7 wrote: My husband and myself use garlic for cooking and have no effects similar to the ones I just read about. Guest guest
Cindy- Do you think that you may possibly be getting a healing reaction to the garlic and other herbs?? A healing reaction happens when your body kills too many pathogens for your body's eliminatory organs to handle. You will feel slow and achy. This usually starts with the colon. I would try some type of intense colon cleanse and see if this possibly could be the issue for you. Any type of cleansing program should start with the colon. If your colon can't eliminate waste correctly then your body will just reabsorb the toxic die off and make you feel like you have the flu. Garlic is a powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral herb, I have seen it work wonders many times over.... Guest guest
So garlic may delay reaction times. But it remains one of the most potent healers all-around. Among many of its properties, garlic is a potent antibiotic and antiviral superfood. But use raw garlic juice wisely, when you need it. Guest guest
No it is no reaction from healing. Many years ago I got a Unary tract infection and the doctor prescribed something with sulfur in it and I got sick as a dog and all swelled up and he told me I was allergic to sulfur... Last year or so I tried MSM and i knew it had sulfur in it but thought it would not be enough to hurt but I was wrong. Then I tried to get off fenugreek for sinus because fenugreek is suppose to make you gain weight and I tried Golden Seal root and got sick as a dog and read up and found out it had sulphur in it. Then I got a ear ache after having some dental work done and read enchina was good and got some enchina extract and got sick as a dog and read up and found out it had sulfur in it. I have done colon cleanse and have been doing it for many months now and this week decided back on coloson. I went on the parasite cleanse and did get sick from die off, but that was the normal dye-off symptoms is a different sick than the sulfur allergic reaction. I have learned the hard way that you have to be careful what herbs you take and now days don't like taking anything new...Right now I have a cabnit full of herbs that have caused problems. Guest guest
Cindy, You did a parasite cleanse. What did you use? What do you mean by being sick from die-off? Linda - Cindy Porter Wednesday, October 06, 2004 3:22 PM RE: Fw: [beck-n-stuff] Oh NO! Garlic Toxic? Rob Combis <rcombis wrote: Cindy- Do you think that you may possibly be getting a healing reaction to the garlic and other herbs?? A healing reaction happens when your body kills too many pathogens for your body's eliminatory organs to handle. You will feel slow and achy. This usually starts with the colon. I would try some type of intense colon cleanse and see if this possibly could be the issue for you. Any type of cleansing program should start with the colon. If your colon can't eliminate waste correctly then your body will just reabsorb the toxic die off and make you feel like you have the flu. Garlic is a powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral herb, I have seen it work wonders many times over.... Guest guest
I read somewhere that garlic crosses the blood brain barrier and our EEG is flat for half an hour after injesting garlic. Don't know if this is correct. But this means garlic is harmful to our brain. In any case, my blood test confirmed that I am allergic to garlic and onions. So, I get my anti-bacterial, anti-fungal stuff from edible grade coconut oil and turmeric (the yellow powder in our kitchens here in India). Guest guest
I would love to see the research on that. I had always read and heard that garlic and onions are very beneficial to health. If garlic were so detrimental to health I think we would see Italians and other cultures who use garlic in cooking to have shorter life spans. But I'm definitely not a doctor or expert - that's just my opinion. Everything that I've seen in news reports over the years indicates the opposite. If you locate that source that says the "EEG is flat" after ingesting garlic - could you please share it with the group? Guest guest
Hi! I'm new to the list. This is the first post that caught my eye, rather sensational subject line. Remember, too much sun will burn you and pure oxygen will destroy your lungs within several days - but both are necessary for good health. All things in moderation. Guest guest
I work for a charter jet company and I asked our director of (pilot) training (he was a pilot with SwissAir for many years) whether he was aware of it and he said he'd never heard such a thing. He did live in Gilroy, " the garlic capitol of the world " and he said that within an 8 mile radius around Gilroy illness is 40-50% less than the general population. He told me he knew a man at Lockheed who wore a garlic clove around his neck and received an award for not using any sick time during 25 years of his employment there. FWIW, most planes, once off the ground are flown by autopilot. If the effect of garlic was so critical I'm surprised the FAA didn't get wind of it by now and come up with some anti-garlic regulations for pilots ( " 72 hours stinking rose to throttle... " ). Guest guest
Here is my 2 cents worth... The garlic was probably just *doing it's thing* killing varmints in the system, which is why people eat the stuff in the first place. Garlic is said to be anti- viral and anti -bacterial. Dr. Beck should have taken the time to see how long the lunch time effects lasted, AND whether the garlic was benificial to the eater, also, I should bring up once more, individual differences in people, everyone may not have had the same reaction, such as the guy that wore garlic constantly to ward off sickness... Hungarians eat Garlic on toast for breakfast, Italians seem to have survived fairly well....NG , - " harlou58 " <wrenchwitch Thursday, October 07, 2004 2:38 PM Re: Fw: [beck-n-stuff] Oh NO!
