Sorry that you didn't get the other message...the one most frequestly posted...the one that says you did indeed help feed a needy animal. Or the one that says you helped a neuter/spay clinic.

I believe that Care 2 does it's best to provide the best *known* available help for animals. They have other free donation clicks. One for tigers and other big cats, one for sea critters (otters, dolphins, etc.), children (this is mostly vaccine oriented, but what else can we do for masive, millions in underdeveloped countries where sanitation is non-exsistent),one for the rainforest, one for mammograms, one about anti-violence toward women...and a couple more.

I use a homeopathic vet. He usually only vaccinates against rabies...and that's only because the law requires it. And because my town is on the state line of California/Nevada...I can get away wil only getting a rabies shot every three years (Nevada law), as opposed to every two for California. If we have plague in the basin (Lake Tahoe) he will vaccinate. The alternative to the shot is keeping my babies inside or only allowing them out on a leash. NO CHAINS...just a short walk a couple times a day cuz it's all I am able to do. I won't use barbed wire over the top of my fence, altho it does keep the probability of infected squirrels and chipmunks getting into the back yard diminished. Most of them are NOT infected and I don't want them afraid to come talk to us (me and my furbabies). Most pet adoption agencies require the animal be vaccinated...so in order to find homes for these wonderful animals, they MUST be vaccinated. Does not

mean that we shouldn't try to help educate in every way possible.

The truth about the mercury in vaccines is only now becoming mainstream. My doctor fusses at me every year because I won't take a flu shot. I'm extremely high risk and it's his job to "inform me" of the risks. It's MY job to get him to listen to the truth about vaccines.

On a lighter note, I do think the muffins are good.Starris <starrisg wrote:

I clicked on this link at the bottom the e-mail thinking I was helping feed an animal in need. Instead, after I clicked, it thanked me for vaccinating a cat. My friend's cat just had her leg amputated from the effects of a vaccination, so I felt tricked and sickened.

Did your vet explain to you that after the first rabies vacc, subsequent shots do not increase immunity? That rabies has been tested and proven effective for 7 years and is no doubt effective longer, but that it hasn't been tested for longer? That's the type of info vacc companies don't want us to know, so many vets don't even know because the drug reps don't tell them. Most of what vets (and allopaths) know about drugs is only what they are told by the reps who are trying to make bigger sales.

You're lucky to live up there and to have a homeopathic vet! I'm in Sac and it's still hot down here.

I don't think I knew that they were good for that long. Very good news indeed. Now how do we get the county health dept. to learn this?? And then the state??

Do you have a good vet? With UC-Davis right there, are they mostly sticklers for conventional medicine?Starris <starrisg wrote:

Nah - I use a mobile vet (who knows I think of him as an animal mechanic) because mobile vets aren't sticklers. Haven't had to go to UCD because I feed raw and don't vacc. The mobile vet doesn't ask about vaccs or push meds on me. If he wants to prescribe, he tells me what he wants the med to do, knowing I'll find my own way. I use him mostly for s/n, foxtails in ears, and injuries. He finally volunteered that annual teeth cleanings weren't necessary in my case due to the raw. He shakes his head, but he can't argue with success.

I don't know how to deal with the govt agencies. We'd have to turn around the drug salespersons first. We're really up against it. The best way is to get an exemption for medical reasons. I don't think the package inserts that say so are available any more, but shots are NOT be given to animals who aren't perfectly healthy. Yet it's done all the time. Even during appointments for surgery. It's an overwhelming problem.

That Jstsayno2vaccs is working on it.

Re: Re:*Starris* Pumpkin Muffins (healthy ones)

I don't know who this person is, but once again it is local laws that mandate the length of a rabies vaccination. In Florida it is 1 year. Doesn't matter if the vaccine is good for 3 or 7, the public health threat is high enough that that is the law. It is a shame that people no longer remember the ravages of diseases like rabies. We saw pictures in public health of people chained to trees because they had been bit by a rabid dog. They didn't want to hurt anyone else, so they would die a wild, horrible, painful death. If people are truly this stupid as to think that there is a 'Homeopathic' treatment or cure for rabies then I invite them to visit some third world nations and give it a try.Rest Assured, we vets know exactly what vaccines companies are all about and that is why there are laws and regulations and research and development requirements. Why license a vaccine for 7 years if the state and county laws require vaccination every 3 years? Each year that a company keeps a dog at a research facility to test vaccine titers costs them money. That is reflected to the consumer in the amount they pay for that vaccine. I doubt very much that if I offered a 7 year vaccine for $30.00 that people would opt for it over the 3 yr vaccine at $12 if the law requires every 3 year vaccinations. You'll have to stop sending me these crazy things. I think I would prefer to live in my own little world were people who are educated outside the field of veterinary medicine are not the ones making the medical decisions. Have a good night and take care!Tammy
