Senator Feingold from Wisconsin was the only one to read the Patriot Act before voting. Of course, he voted against it. It basically ripped the guts out of our bill of rights.

SenateWebmail wrote: Thank You For Contacting My OfficeSenateWebmailTo: goebelchxDate: Tue, 5 Jun 2007 13:36:43 -0400 Dear Dr. Goebel:Thank you for contacting me about the Food and Drug Administration Revitalization Act (S. 1082). I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this important matter. As you may know, Senator Edward Kennedy introduced S. 1082 on April 10, 2007. This legislation would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and would overhaul the Food and Drug Administration’s procedures for ensuring prescription drug and medical device safety. S. 1082 would also preserve and strengthen the FDA’s ability to get prescription drugs to the market quickly. The prescription-drug user fee provision is a key component of this

legislation, as it would provide the FDA with resources to improve and modernize its drug-safety monitoring system. I voted for this legislation, which the Senate passed on May 9, 2007, by a vote of 93 to 1. Senator Byron Dorgan introduced an amendment that would allow the importation of prescription drugs. As a result, Senator Thad Cochran proposed an amendment (S. AMDT. 1010) that would allow the prescription drug importation proposed in the Dorgan amendment only if the Department of Health and Human Services first certifies that the importation would not pose an additional health and safety risk and would lead to reduced prescription drug costs for U.S. consumers. I supported the Cochran amendment, which passed the Senate by a vote of 49 to 40, because we must ensure that imported drugs are safe. Allowing drug importation outside the FDA’s current safety system without addressing safety concerns could threaten public health and result in unsafe,

unapproved, and counterfeit drugs being imported into the United States. Additionally, I supported the amendment offered by Senator Pat Roberts that would repeal the drug advertising ban and substitute an effective advertisement-monitoring system that ensures ads are truthful and not misleading. This amendment would also give the FDA the authority to impose a maximum $150,000 fine for false or misleading ads. This legislation addresses prescription drugs and medical devices and does not change the existing laws that govern dietary supplements and vitamins. In fact, it is important to note that the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act—the piece of legislation which sets forth guidelines about dietary supplements and vitamins—does not place prescription drugs and medical devices in the same category as supplements and vitamins. I appreciate having the opportunity to represent the interests of Texans in the United States Senate.

This is a myth. The Framers of our Constitution and our forefathers were Deists, not Christian. There is NO mention of GOD in the Constitution; it is a contract between men. The omission of God from our constitution is too obvious not to be deliberate. "In God We Trust" did not appear until the Civil War, and "under God" was introduced into the Pledge of Allegiance during the McCarthy hysteria in the fifties. As we all know (assume), communists are godless, that is if you discount the Catholic Church which is basically communist (as explained to me by our bishop during a visit to our high school).

Was our country founded on Christian Principles?

No.

In 1797 our government created the Treaty of Tripoli which contains the following:

As the Government of the United States...is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion--as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity of Musselmen--and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

When sent to the Senate for ratification, it was voted on unanimously.

The reasons for our corruption today are not simple, however, greed would seem to have a hand in it.

The population has been subtly led toward this path. Examples are our public schools, especially in metropolital areas, TV, radio, news, and of course there are more. Public schools with their lack of education and low standards may be the worst. How do you control a society? Dumb them down. Give them plenty of entertainment to keep them busy and not interested in what is really important and use the entertainment media for mind control. I believe we are almost there. The fact that we just sit and watch the atrocities going on before us proves our apathy.

The Declaration of Independence was a legal document to the writers of

same and an illegal document to the King in England.

That is not the issue. Central to the basis for our system of

government is " endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights,.

.. . " This means our concept of government is not based upon the law of

man or a group of men and their changing whims, but upon the immutable

laws established by God at the act of Creation.

Take God out of the picture, and we are back to the whims of powerful

men.

That's a scary thought!

Well, nothing like religion and politics to heat up a debate.

What I want to know is how many of the founding father's used oleander

soup?

: - )

Everyone is scoring points here, although on a topic that probably

should be addressed privately. As it turns out, this happens to be a

topic I have researched, mainly to satisfy my own curiosity on the matter.

There were indeed a number of Christians among the signers of the

Declaration of Independence, although it appears that the primary

movers and shakers were deists, and that a great many of the most

prominent of our founding fathers were either demonstrably not

Christians, or else there beliefs and degrees of devotion were open to

conjecture.

Clearly, separation of church and state was of paramount importance to

the founding fathers, owing to the many factions and beliefs and the

number of early settlers who came to the New World to flee religious

persecution.

The most prominent point of view among historians is echoed in this

article:

http://www.neoconvirus.com/bin/theocracy/christian_nation_myth.html

Now, having said that, this country is a long, long way from what it

was when the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were being

framed and signed. Contrary to what many would have you think, the

line separating church and state has eroded considerably and,

regardless of the past, the United States is considered by and large

to be a Christian nation today

An objective person would have to say that for a Christian nation, we

surely do a very poor job of following the example and teachings of of

the Christian namesake when it comes to war, crime and punishment,

turning the other cheek, forgiveness or love of our fellow man.

I see a lot of what I call " pick and choose " Christians in this

country who go to church, claim to be Godly, and yet envy their

neighbors, are hateful, greedy, and unforgiving. I do not interpret

the Bible to be a multiple choice book. And, if I am right, then I

have to ponder just how many who call themselves Christians should

think long and hard on this little verse:

" Do not turn your head towards Me in prayer if you have unforgiveness

in your heart, for I shall turn My head aside and your prayers shall

go unanswered "

Toughie, that one!

I now step down from my soapbox and return you to the oleander soup?

forum. A decidedly non-denominational forum who respects the rights

and beliefs of one and all (excepting those who believe that it is

justified to murder women and children in the name of their God).

I will bet that Congressman, Ron Paul (TX) read that Patriot Act, and I know that he voted against it. He is the only man that is the right man to be the president. His motto is "I am for the Constitution." If he were president, he would do away with IRS, Federal Reserve (not federal and not reserve), FDA, etc. He believes in a limited federal govt. that follows the constitution. I suggest everyone voting in the republican primary check this guy out. He is a real statesman not a politician. Watch some of the clips on the google. I did not think that I would ever support a republican or democrat again. Both "mainstream" parties seem to be taking us down the same path to Big Brother socialism where the common man cannot think or act for himself. He must have the "enlightened masters" to think for him. If people would get educated and vote their conscience rather than a party, I think that we would see big changes. I'm not going to vote party. I'm going to vote for the right person Back to OS. I have been taking it now for about 1 month. Mild diarrhea when taking 3 tbsp per day. Now take about 1 tbsp. 3 x per week. I have made up about 3 gallons and I hope to be able to help some folks in my area soon. I will keep you all posted.I do not have Cancer. I am just taking OS

Congressman Paul is from my region of Texas, where I grew up. I like his whole philosophy, and I like the philosophy of another Libertarian, Dr. Paul Psasz (spelling?). That said, I must comment that neither has enough politicatl traction to be a viable candidate. Perhaps we can insist one of them slips in as VP running w/ Newt Gingrich or Fred Thompson. I live in Texas 100 miles from the border where we are overrun with Mexicans. They have taken over our jobs and locked us out of whole industries here. During the last few weeks as the terrible immigration billed was debated, I called a dozen senators. I reminded them that they represent the CITIZENS of THIS country, not Mexico, not a North American Alliance, nor some international elitists grand plan of world domination and control of all the earth's resources and peoples. The very idea that they would let INVADERS!!!!

steal our jobs, congest our highways and welfare system, close down our hospitals, lower the US flag and instead raise the Mexican flag w/ the US flag under it, upside down, at one of our federal buildings -- that they would ask us to quarter and feed these invaders with our taxes -- resembles 1771-1773 when the British Parliament passed an act which said we had to quarter British troops in our homes and pay their incidental expenses. The traitorous element in our government LOOKS A LOT LIKE REDCOATS!!!!!!!!! If you love the US and revere the Constitution as a document second only to the Bible, please pass that comparison on. The Redcoats are again asking us to quarter aliens at our expense and peril. No taxation w/o real representation of the citizenry. Now let me really scare you: There is now a voter scandal in

Bexas County (San Antonio) involving dozens of illegal Mexican who have already voted in our elections. When these same individuals were called to serve on juries, they disqualified themselves by stating that they were not citizens! So the scenario is: Bush gets his way and these 12 to 20 million aliens are allowed to stay here. In 2008 he declares that we cannot tell who is actually a voter and who isn't! He declares martial law and suspends elections! It could happen. Pass the message on. Dr. Goebel

I,m for Ron Paul, but he is being weeded out by the crooks in the Republican Party and the traitors to this country and the American citizens. Everyone in the White House is learning Spanish to reserve their desk so when they let this become the United States of Mexico, They might get a front seat.

If you love the US and revere the Constitution as a document second only to the Bible, please pass that comparison on. The Redcoats are again asking us to quarter aliens at our expense and peril.

No taxation w/o real representation of the citizenry.

Now let me really scare you: There is now a voter scandal in Bexas County (San Antonio) involving dozens of illegal Mexican who have already voted in our elections.

Hi there Jim,

That is why we cannot let this happen. We cannot be complascent and let them weed out Paul. We all need to take a stand and make noise. We all need to get out and vote, that is assuming that we can vote honestly. Imagine what an upset that would be. Surprise!

What I am saying that it is time to do something or forever hold our peace. We are there. We all need to rise up, call our politicians and let them know where we stand. I am a pain in that proverbial region to them. I believe there would be a huge surge for Ron Paul if we all got up and let it be known. Of course, the controlled media would ignore us, but we have the internet, emails..... and.... word of mouth. Word of mouth goes a long way.

Reality check: Bush is not going to let this amnesty bill die. We are going to be the United States of Mexico one way or another if he has his way. I look at the news and see all the scare tacticts. There will be another attack and then the clamps will come down. I even wonder if he will proclaim himself Dictator before the election comes around,

I am passionate about this. Remember Patrick Henry's words? Give me liberty or give me death? We are right smack dab there again. I am very involved in politics here and have emailed Ron Paul to let him know that I will do whatever it takes to help get him elected.

We can't go down without a fight.

I,m for Ron Paul, but he is being weeded out by the crooks in the Republican Party and the traitors to this country and the American citizens. Everyone in the White House is learning Spanish to reserve their desk so when they let this become the United States of Mexico, They might get a front seat.

The very idea that they would let INVADERS!!!! steal our jobs, congest our highways and welfare system, close down our hospitals, lower the US flag and instead raise the Mexican flag w/ the US flag under it, upside down, at one of our federal buildings -- that they would ask us to quarter and feed these invaders with our taxes -- resembles 1771-1773 when the British Parliament passed an act which said we had to quarter British troops in our homes and pay their
