Guest guest
" Based on your responses, scores for three separate scales have been calculated and are presented below. The scores can be used as indicators of whether people believe their health to be determined by INTERNAL factors, by CHANCE factors, or by POWERFUL OTHERS. Your score on the INTERNAL scale is 33. Scores on this scale can range from 6 to 36, with higher scores indicating stronger beliefs that individuals have control over their own health. Your score on the CHANCE scale is 14. Scores on this scale can range from 6 to 36, with higher scores indicating stronger beliefs that one's health is not under one's own control, but is determined by chance, luck, or fate. Finally, your score on the POWERFUL OTHERS scale is 15. Scores on this scale can range from 6 to 36, with higher scores indicating stronger beliefs that one's health is not under one's own control, but under the control of powerful other people, such as doctors, nurses, health care professionals, family members, and friends. Scores from this survey on beliefs about control over one's health are presented for your interest. They should not be construed as a clinical diagnosis or assessment. Feel free to use the space on the next screen to let us know how accurate these scores are in describing your beliefs about control over your health. The Multidimensional Health Locus of Control scales were developed and first described by Kenneth Wallston, Ph.D. and his colleagues (see citation below). Form A has been used in this survey.
