Guest guest
My recycler-people won't take food waste. They barely take anything. I'm seriously disappointed with FL's enviro-friendliness (or lack there of). I'll try to keep it from the disposal though. Seems like if it's fruits/veggies the ocean might be better than a landfill though... terri RealSimple , " Leslie O'Brien " <leslie wrote: > > The thing about pushing food items down the disposal is that it ultimately > ends up in our drains and oceans. Guest guest
One thing that I do with my produce waste is to put it in the blender with water and then feed it to the outdoor trees & plants. I figure that they need some nutrition also. It doesn't stink up my garbage and doesn't clog the pipes. Guest guest
Yes, this is a great idea! And don't forget your egg shells, they are good fertilizer too. And banana peels-I'm not sure these will blend up in the blender, but you can put them whole in the soil near your shrubs and trees. I read Oragnic Gardening mag for 20 years. And then I freecycled them all! ACK! What was I thinking? Now I wish I remembered more of all these things! Cyndi In a message dated 10/5/2007 9:04:20 A.M. We are also redoing some of the ornamental bushes/trees in the common areas, good idea for fertilizer. Love it. Thanks.
