Guest guest
Kris, I don't know about books, but I do know there are a lot of recipes out on the internet for cleaners made with baking soda, washing soda, plain white vinegar, lemon juice and salt. I really like these recipes. I try to avoid chemicals in household cleaners whenever possible. For laundry soap, a couple of us have gotten a product called "soap nuts." They are nuts grown on trees in India or Africa, and imported into the USA. Does anyone remember the name of the company we got them from? I'll search back thru my files. I know we got them from newstarget.com, but i don't remember the name of the company. Maggies? These work great. I have a book from Jerry Baker called Supermarket Super Products 2568 super solutions, Terrific Tips, & Remarkable Recipes For Great Health, A Happy Home, and A Beautiful Garden. But this book uses a lot of toxic materials like nail polish remover, etc, so I don't really consider it healthy alternatives. I'll probably put the book up on paperbackswap, as I don't really have a use for it. As far as toiletries go, there are many websites that sell "natural" products, or give recipes for homemade stuff, but again, I've never gone looking for a book for any, lol. :-) I know there are other books for natural solutions out there, but I've never bought any. Have you tried searching on Amazon? I'm sure there will be lots. If you find any good books, please let us know! We're definitely in the minority, so I'm sure publishing books on these topics aren't a real big money maker for people, lol. Cyndi In a message dated 2/3/2008 11:08:48 P.M. Does anyone out there know a book that is full of recipe for things (like laundry soaps, household cleaners, or toiletries) and maybe some advice? I am a big fan of books, and it always helps to be able to just pull one out and look up whatever thought I might be having. Thanks, Kris Who's never won? Guest guest
I did check on amazon. From the books there, you would not think we were a minority. But when you check them out (it lets you read parts of it) they all kinda seem the same. There was one that I did like, though, and just might end up getting it after I do some online research. What I might end up doing is looking up all the stuff online, and making my own lil recipe book! ~Kriscyndikrall wrote: Kris, I don't know about books, but I do know there are a lot of recipes out on the internet for cleaners made with baking soda, washing soda, plain white vinegar, lemon juice and salt. Guest guest
COOL! Let us know if you make up your own recipe book, I'd LOVE to see it. Especially recipes for nice facial moisturizers. My skin is so sensitive, I can't use ANY moisturizers. And I've tried them all. Even coconut oil burns my skin. :-(Cyndi In a message dated 2/4/2008 11:25:49 A.M.
