Guest guest
I've never tried to use freezer paper for that very reason, fear of freezer burn. I'm not sure, but I think it might have some sort of coating on it, so I don't really know if it is better for the environment, but plastic is so bad, it couldn't be worse. The thing I like about the freezer paper idea is that food should be stored with as little air as possible, so the paper would probably allow you to package up the meat with little air. I have a food saver thing that sucks the air out of (their) plastic bags to help frozen food stay fresh longer. It works great. But it's still plastic. On the other hand, it helps with freezer storage because the bags take up less space. I just saw somewhere a gizmo you can use in the dishwasher to wash out plastic bags. Wish I could remember where I saw it, lol. I think one of the newsletters I forwarded to this list. The freezer storage thing is hard, because freezers are never designed well for storage. I've had several refrigerators, and all the designs have their drawbacks. I'm never happy with them, lol. Cyndi In a message dated 4/30/2008 6:15:30 P.M. She said you just wrap it around and use tape to hold it - does that really prevent freezer burn??!!! Is it any better for the environment?? I've been trying ot find containers that might work, but am having trouble so far. I think I'd want pretty flat but wide/long and then stackable and so far am not having a whole lot of luckThoughts?
