Guest guest
The Barley Formula is great and really cheap. Lisa Carter [randasmommy2003] Saturday, June 05, 2004 10:19 AM herbal remedies Herbal Remedies - Baby Formula I had a friend call me a little bit ago bacause she knows I am into natural remedies. Her 3 month old son spits up so much the doctor wants to look at him for reflux. She has him on soy formula, which I had already warned her against. The doctor had put him on that because he was spitting up the milk-based formula. My questions: Is there a natural formula out there? Can she make her own? What's the recipe? She started out breastfeeding him, but the nurses in the hospital actually had her supplement with formula. I gave her my advice(don't supplement), but she thinks medicos know it all. She lost her milk supply and had to switch him to formula. Her doctor told her it was better because the baby was having trouble gaining weight. She also went through with the vaccinations:[ Sometimes I just want to scream and have to smile instead. Anyway, She is asking me FINALLY, for help. However I breastfeed Miranda. I don't know anything about natural formula. I have heard about Barley Formula. Also Goats milk formula. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Lisa C. Guest guest
Thanks, I just found the recipe in the archives. Isn't Karo syrup basically sugar? How come it's okay for babies and not for adults? (slightly jealous here, I have a major sweet tooth) :] Should the milk be whole milk? Guest guest
The Karo Syrup for whatever reason helps kids poop. It counters the effects that cows milk will have on any infant. I think that whole milk should be used for the fat content but as I understand it, this is within your discretion. Guest guest
OKTOM, Have you tried agave in the formula? There is amber and light. All I've tried is the light. It has a sugar syrup taste. Sweet, but nothing else. I've read the dark tastes a bit like honey, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm not sure how wide spread it is yet, but corn products will be mostly gmo in the near future, I'm afraid. I've read that you can spray round up weedkiller around the gmo corn, and it won't even hurt it. Sugarcane and beets are being developed like that also. I still think that cornsyrup is better than all the other stuff in formula, though.
