Guest guest
Hi everyone,My husband has been wanting to take some sort of immune boosting supplement and I have been doing a bit of research but am overwhelmed with the choices. I also have a hard time knowing which brands are reliable and trustworthy as far as the ingredients... He would prefer a chewable or liquid or even a small gel capsule as he has a difficult time swallowing pills. I have been reading that he should not take echinacea for a prolonged period of time...is this true? Would he be best off with a daily multivitamin and then using the immune booster when he is starting to feel run down or sick? Thanks in advance for all your help! Guest guest
Hi Shannon, Did you see the cold and flu tonic recipe i posted a few days ago? I went and got some horseradish root and ginger root to keep on hand, now that cold and flu season is here. Since my white blood cells are low, immunity has been on my mind a lot lately too. This is supposed to be a good company: http://www.lifeextensionvitamins.com/immunefunction.html They offer a good range of immune system supplements. If you browse thru them, you'll see a lot of common elements in the different formulas, besides echinacea. Also important are: zinc, vitamin C and A, Co-Q10, astragalus, and several other things you'll find while browsing. Their wellness formula (toward the bottom of the page) looks interesting. There's other things you can do to boost your immune system too, like taking a good fish oil capsule, drinking kefir, etc. And coconut oil has anti-microbial and anti-bacterial, anti-fungal properties, as well. I know there's more you can do to boost your immune system too, I'll pass on mor info.... Cyndi In a message dated 11/10/2008 8:57:44 P.M. Guest guest
We use astragalus too - I take it as a capsule, part of the Dr. Weil line. You can also open the capsules and mix it into a drink (taste isn't bad). I picked mine up at Amazon (costs less) but they also sell it at Whole Foods. Also, I think I got an email from Amazon that they have $20 off promo on vitamins - sorry but I no longer have the email! Good luck!
