Greetings!

 

 

 

Today a theme of turning off electrical power seems to have emerged.

 

This Saturday is Earth Hour, when the World Wildlife Fund wants you to

turn off your electricity for an hour at 8:30 pm local time to cast

your vote for Earth, and against global warming. Check their website to

see what's happening with this in your area.

 

Also, a woman made a post on my Green Living Q & A blog this week about

how she turned off the power in her house to eliminate EMF expsoure,

and the unexpected benefits she experienced by doing this.

 

With the high electricity bills for summer air conditioning approaching

in Florida, and a recent 25% increase in our rate, I know we'll be

taking another look at reducing our electricty use as soon as I come

home from San Francisco.

I Turned Off EMFs In My House

 

Hello Everyone,

 

I found something interesting and want to let you know in case you may

be experiencing these things or know someone who is......or maybe there

are those experiencing them and don't know what is plaguing them.

 

Yesterday I was in chat with a friend in Sweden when I heard myself say

I want to turn off all the electricity to this house so I can feel

better!.....I heard this and felt this was something I needed to do

immediately....so I went out to my roommate and asked how to turn off

all the power to the house.

 

I remember when we lost power for 3 weeks during a hurricane 2 years

ago, how peaceful and calm I felt....and how nice and quiet everything

was....and I seemed to be craving this again. John showed me the box

outside and I later turned it off. Within 10 minutes I had 30% less

pain and tension in my shoulders neck, head and back for which I was

about to take 2 Exedrin for. I loved the quiet stillness immediately!

It was li

ke my body was 'released' and just melted into itself in space

of belonging. John walked in not yet knowing it was off, and

said....'it feels very still and calm'.....it was.

paint primer uncovered

 

My husband and I moved into a new building 6 months ago and are renting

a unit that has primer on the walls but no paint over it

( " decorator-ready " ). I am pregnant and would rather not get involved in

painting the apartment unless necessary. I was wondering if there are

any health concerns associated with living in an apartment in which the

walls are covered in white primer without paint on top of it?

Plates & Cups made of Areca palm leaf

 

Hi,

 

We have developed these plates and bowls made of Areca palm leaves

which are completely biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

 

To protect their natural state from moist, heat or extreme weather

conditions, we will have to coat them with something similar to plastic

but not made of chemicals or other toxic agents which is completely

natural.

satillite safety concern

 

Our satallite for our direct tv is positioned right outside of my

daughter's bedroom window- the window that her bed is located. I am

0Aconcerned about radiation. I contacted the directv provider about this

question and they assured me that it was safe. I am skeptical and

concerned. I considered positioning her bed on the opposite side of the

room but I don't know if it would make a difference. Please let me know

if anyone could give me any info or advice about this.

specific low voc paint

 

Dear Debra,

 

I would like to know if you or your readers have used Mythic paint,

advertised as having no vocs, or Bio-Shield paint, stains,etc,

advertised as having low vocs. I would be interested to know if anyone

has used these products on furniture as well as walls etc. I have MCS

and paint is very hard for me to deal with sometimes even long after it

has dried.

Coil Coating on Bakeware

 

Hi Debra,

 

I was recently shopping for some new bakeware (cookie sheets) and I

noticed something I've never seen before. The bakeware was steel and

was coated with a non-stick " coil coating " . I've never heard of this

and I haven't been able to find out exactly what it is. The bakeware

was cheap though and but I wonder is this coating would be applied to

higher quality bakeware too. Any thoughts?

Blinds

 

I am looking for a " safe " non-toxic mini blind or equivalent for my

son's room. I nee

d something VERY DURABLE as my child is autistic and

is VERY tough on items (if it lasts for more than a week at my house,

then it is truly quality made). I saw some aluminum blinds, and am

curious of your opinion on them and/or any other suggestions the

readers may have.

I have a 6 months baby. I'm looking for swim diapers. Many of them uses

Nylon for the outer. Is it safe for my baby? Does anyone know other

Sunscreen for Babies

 

I'm looking for a sunscreen that can be safe for my baby. PLS,

recommend me some brands. If possible, one that can be easily found at

any retail store. I have no problem with online stores but I think it

will be more expensive to pay the shipping charges than the sunscreen

itself.

Woolite's Dry Cleaner's secret. My main thing is I want fragrance free.

Do you have any experience with this? From other reviews it seems Dry
