Guest guest
I think magnesium oil will help, you can rub it right into the skin, or add it to bath water. I know they have some special products for children too. I'll see if I can find the link where I ordered mine from. Do you have a juicer? You could make your own juice and mix it with prune juice to mask the taste. Juicing does take out a lot of the fruit fiber, but you can always add some back in, or use the fruit and pulp in smoothies. And the pulp from fruits and veggies can be hidden in a variety of foods so she'll never know it's there. I make what we fondly refer to as pulp muffins with whole wheat flour, coconut oil and honey, and I throw in whatever pulp I have left from juicing. You could also add raisins to the muffins for extra fiber if she likes them. Trust me, constipation will never be a problem again, lol. You can use mini muffin pans for small portions. You can hide carrot, tomato and celery pulp in meatloaf, meatballs, spaghetti sauce, just about anything. Mushrooms have a lot of fiber too, so they can be hidden in foods. You can add freshly ground flax seeds to your pulp muffins. And you can get flavored cod liver oil to mix in with juice, if she won't take it straight. And don't forget fermented foods as a good source for intestinal health. You can run the sauerkraut thru your juicer and get her to drink a spoonful or two at a time, or you can hide the sauerkraut juice in something else if she won't take it plain. Many children's vitamins contain iron, which will cause constipation. If you make kefir, that's another good source of probiotics for the intestines. If she was older, there are many herbal teas that would help, but I doubt a child would drink them, and I'm not even sure I'd want to give them to a child. Well, hope some of these thoughts help. Good luck! :-)Cyndi In a message dated 4/5/2009 5:03:54 P.M. I need to wean her off of it but cannot find a healthy alternative! I am a big fan of organic psyllium but she won't go near the stuff (I've tried to mix in everything I could possibly think of). Does anyone know of something similar to Citracil, Metamucil, etc... except that its healthy/natural? (and we've also tried the prunes, prune juice, and pears - she won't touch prunes anymore and pears only occasionally). I've seen those gummy bear fiber supplement chews for kids but am not happy about the ingredients. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!Thanks again,Barb A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
