Herbal Remedies - irritable bowel syndrome

Hello,

My 16 year old son has suffered for several years with a mysterious

stomach pain. He has seen a gastroenteroligist and has had all of

the tests these doctors use to diagnose. There has not been any

concrete finding except small duodenal pits that are inflamed and

irritated. He has such severe pain that he basically stays in bed

for days at a time. He is losing weight and can't eat much without

causing more pain. I have already cut out all of the caffeine,

spicy foods and chocolate as well as all acidic foods. He doesn't

seem to be doing any better with this. He is on so many

prescriptions I can hardly keep up. They do not help either. I am

wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this type of

stomach disorder and, if so, what did you do to fix it? I am at my

wits end with the medical doctors. They can't help him.

Thank you all for your help.

I second this. If you call and get his free tape, and listen to it, you

will be entitled to a free consultation with him. Also, I called his office

today to order some products and was very pleasantly surprised at how

helpful and knowledgeable the young man I spoke with was. He didn't try to

" sell " me anything, but we discussed what supplements I'm taking already and

what I was ordering and he answered all my questions and suggested some

things that I might want to try. He even suggested things that they didn't

carry, that I will purchase at my local HFS. And said he would write

everything down and send it in the package so I didn't have to remember all

that we had decided.

I highly recommend it.

When you talk with Doc, ask him if he could also have parasites.

Shelby,

Black Tea is helpful in controlling frequent loose stools and Chamomile tea settles the stomach. What he has sounds like something more than IBS which is by the way a label that doctors give for intestinal disorders they don't have an answer for. A good intestinal cleanse may help but take him to a Homeopathic professional for a full review of his condition.

No, but he has had braces for the last three years. Just had them

taken off last monday. Are they silver? I'm not sure. I think

they are alluminum or some other metal.

Hello, I am glad you posted. You did not give specifics as to what

type of diet your family eats, or how many years (several is non-

descript) that your son has suffered from these symptoms. Where you

live could also be a factor. Any prescription meds for any reason

being taken, could also be relevant. Any physical trauma encountered

(i.e. sports injury, personal attack, accident) by your son would

also be relevant. Basically, in order to offer an opinion, we need

more information. Warm regards, Lori--- In

Hi ~

I'm so sorry your son is having to go through this! How awful for him.

I remember being 16 and I can't imagine feeling as yucky as your son

for so very long by the time I was 16. or 15 or 14. Please, be sure to

let him know that you are searching for a solution for this. I'm

tossing my $.02 into the hat...

To be honest, you can cut out all of the caffeine, spicy foods and

chocolate as much as you want - it won't help. Well - it may help - to

a degree - but it is not going to aleviate the problems he is having.

You said "He is on so may prescriptions I can hardly keep up. They do

not help either" NO - they don't!!!! They don't help AT ALL. Matter of

fact, the prescription (read: synthetic man-made drugs) he is taking is

99% of the problem. Think about it - when you see a commercial on TV

for *any* prescription drug - when you listen to the list of problems

the advertised drug is *known* to cause in case studies; 90% of the

problems cause (or reported by the case study group) are

gastrointestinal issues. Personally, I am not shocked at all that your

son is in bed a lot of times because his gi tract is ****ing with him.

Those meds are tearing his inside apart. I don't know what drugs your

son is taking but I can tell you this: 1)he needs to get off the

drugs. 2) For every last one of them there is a natural alternative.

All you have to do is find it.

Please don't get me wrong - you have obviously done everything you can

for your son; to the point you are looking to his diet as a cause for

his discomfort.

For that I commend you; very few parents would even consider the fact

that the diet their child eats may be contributing to the problem.

My best advice is: locate a *GOOD* homeopath and get you son an appt.

with them; sooner rather than later.

Please, be sure to let your son know you are searching for a

solution/resolution to constant and chronic state of disease.

And at this point you no longer know what is his body and what is the effect of all the prescriptions. They're bad to begin with, putting someone on them for years just obstructs any insight into what the body would be doing on its own.

the silver fillings are what can help cause irritable bowel from the

mercury leakig from them ...maybe it is the hormonal changes too

that are causing the stress in the body...I sure hope you get to the

Hi,

Until you find a doctor to help your son, in addition to the foods you have already removed, I would suggest removing casein/gluten and many sugars and simple carbs. Been there.

Good luck,

Hello, Thank you for your advice. I agree that the prescriptions

do not help. I am not ready to take him off of the acid blockers

yet, but I have already taken him off of all of the others. I have

also had a consultation with a natural health food store and the

woman seems to know what I am talking about. She suggested some

enzyme products as well as licorice to soothe his stomache. It has

been a week now and while the pain is still there a little, he is so

much better. I am thrilled with the improvement and he is too! I

am not done learning about this or trying to find a cure for him.

He knows I have devoted my life to helping him. His diet is not as

strict as I'd like it to be, because he is a teenager and he loves

pepsi. But even now, it doesn't seem to affect him as much with the

enzymes working for him.

Hi Ellen. I dont know what herbs to take for IBS. Im also am

looking for this information and have requested the tape from Doc.

However, I would like to say that Im not a believer in IBS myself.

IBS is simply the acknowledgement that your bowels are irritable. So

the question for me is not how can I treat my irritable bowels, but

WHY are my bowels irritable? This is exactly what 90% of doctors

dont address, the cause. I was told i had IBS and then I found out

that I had Celiac Disease (gluten intolerance enteropathy). Doctors

love to throw around IBS because they say theres no cure for it and

they just treat the symptoms, but you have to find out why your

bowels aren't working properly. For me it was gluten intolerance,

for you it could be food allergy or CD or thyroid??? Who knows? But

I would find out if I was you, while your trying to alleviate the

symptoms.

There is an Intestinal Cleanse #2 formula that will heal the bowels. Leisa is correct in the fact that you need to find the underlying cause for these things. Well, imagine a hose that has several layers to it. It's several inches thick. Now imagine putting acid into the thick hose. What would happen after several years of acid in the hose. Yep, you get a hole or an area of the hose that is no longer "whole". This is what happens to the intestines. Once the hole is created you will have an irritated bowel/intestine. Whether this is a small, minute, large, medium, oblong, pin prick sized etc it will be irritated. There can be irritations similar to rashes but it's really the starting of one of these sores, inside the intestines. This is the irritable bowel syndrome or at least a side of it we deal with everyday. IT doesn't matter what manifestation this problem occurs in it simply needs 3 things:1. An excellent diet full of Alkaline foods. No more acid foods, key words, NO ACID!2. Intestinal Cleanse # 13. Intestinal Cleanse #2 The first will allow the body to fuel the immune system, the second will insure movement of the bowel, if this isn't necessary (crones disease type issues) then go immediately to step #3. This will heal the wounds, pull off toxic layers of refuse the bowels never voided and start the process of the body dumping all sorts of chemicals that have been stored in the bodies various storage depots. Does this help?Love,Zeb

That helps ALOT! Thanks Zeb.

Tell me about Alkaline foods - does this mean I can't drink decaf

coffee??? (yikes)

I am in the process of trying to obtain this intestinal cleanse #2.

I look forward to taking it.

Great. Doc received your tape request and it went out today. After a few

bits of paperwork we can send out the Alkaline chart to you and this will

help. Decaf.... yeps, is gotta goes. Sorry. But there are great teas

that are very fun to drink in replacement. NUMI is the brand name and they

also make Organic teas. Yes!!

Hope this helps,

Great explanation- thanks. I've been forwarding these posts to a

friend who has IBS, but uses NO natural medicine at all. I'm trying

to get her interested.

Hello Ellen,

I also have IBS and have found that an ounce or two a day of Aloe

Vera juice with a glass of water really helped me out. Most of them

on the market don't even have a taste. It's just like

drinking a

glass of water. It is a very cheap solution.

Good Luck

Hi,

I have IBS. I experienced the cramping, bloating, mucous. I do agree that it have to do with stress and what you put in your mouth. I've had it for four years now. Eat more fresh cooked vegetables, not raw. Eat plenty of fruit during the day so your stomach doesn't get empty and create air/gas. I not to long joined this group and have yet to purchase my total cleanse which is suggested. I'm sure someone else can help you out as to the herbal remedies. Just don't take any of the prescription drugs, they all gave me serious side affects.

Hi,

Does anyone have IBS here? If so, can you help with some of

the symptoms and also anything to do to relieve symptoms?

I read that you can have a crampy feeling in the lower right

side of the abdomen, bloating (more gas), and irregular bowel

movements.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

Yes I found the first thing one had to do was an

elimination diet. Where you stop eating everything and

start with one ata time and add them back and don't

eat anything that causes trounle. I had to give up

anything with starch in it for 6 months now I am

slowly adding them back but if they cause trouble they

are out aagin for a while.

[prescription drugs they all gave me serious side

affects.] I agree about the drugs but one thing I

found that helps is phyllium. My Dr said to take it I

buy

Metamucil the none sweetened or flavored it is just a

bulking agent and helps me not to be constipated

Hello everyone,

I'm a lurker and have been for a few weeks. Unfortunately, I've been a member of some very rude chat groups and therefore, I don't post often. However, as an IBS suffer as well, I'd like to offer a recipe for help, Karen.

Be sure you use very good quality organic herbs - remember, this is natural medicine for your body, give your body the best.

Providing you have no allergies to the below ingredients: Try drinking at least 2-3 cups of this herbal tea daily, I make it, use it and sell it to a lot of clients. It's specifically blended for IBS.

Equal parts: Lavender Flowers, Chamomile German, Calendula Flowers, Peppermint Leaf, Spearmint Leaf and Jasmine Flowers.

The combination effects of anti-inflammatory, calming, digestive aids in these herbs will bring you much relief.

Best of luck!

Katherine
