Wire for wire wrapping

Hi!

I'm a newbie on the list. I'm a lifelong lover/collector of stones and

crystals, but in the last six months or so, have felt a huge leap in my

desire to work with stones and my sensitivity to them.

I'd love to wire wrap some smaller pieces to wear, but I'm not sure how to

choose the right metal for wrapping. I've seen lots of silver and gold

used, but I'm drawn to copper as well. Any ideas for matching metals to

mineral spirits (mostly quartz), other than asking the stone if it has a

preference? Do the different metals have different qualities that should be

considered?

I look forward to reading all your messages!

Metals are no different then crystals and stones for their properties. Some

of the crystal books out there do also list the properties of silver, gold,

brass, copper. You just have to do a little research to find it.

My personal preference for copper has a few reasons behind it. Copper for me

is more economical, it is (or at least when I started using it) not what

everyone else is using (I like being unique to the best of my abilities ;-) ),

it

is a pretty color and can age in a beautiful way also (patina) and last but

not least ... what is the most used wire for conductivity in electrical things?

Copper! Copper is a great energy conductor. So when combining it with

crystals you are adding to the crystal circuitry.

As for which you *should* use ... again that is a personal choice for you to

make ... along with the guidance of the crystal(s) you are working with at the

time.

Blessings to your weekends all.

I don't know the answer to your question but I order a

lot of wire from http://www.firemountaingems.com. I

thought maybe that will help you to see some options.

They are great to order from too and you get a free

gift every time. I love their web site too and find it

very easy to use.

I love their 25 foot spools. I get full hard, 1/2 hard

and dead soft and have from 16 gauge to 28 and have

different metals and colors. They have nice twist wire

too!

I wrap a lot of stones as I am a custom jewelry

designer and when I don't buy wholesale from my

favorite in town place, then I always buy from Fire

Mountain.
