Guest guest
Hi Lynn, First, I strongly recommend you the following book: Supernature: A natural history of the supernatural / Lyall Watson It's an excellent source for literature reviews and research methodology for studies attempting to validate alternative subjects (such as astrology, which was a legitimate science in the middle ages) as scientific disciplines. Secondly, do you believe that the lack of cooperation you received from Crystal Therapists is due to a negative attitude towards the academic community? I feel that there is a sublime, yet strong rivalry and antagonism between " scientists " (i.e. members of the mainstreem academic community) and " alternative scientists " (shamans etc.). The present astrological situation indicates some kind of peek in the battle between the " scientific " community and the " alternative scientific " community. On one hand the scientific community are using " mars-saturn " type of methods for holding on to their monopoly over " science " , " culture " , wisdom " . For example Prof. Steven Pinker, a renowned Professor in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University, has accused Whorf, who was one of the most important anthropologists of all times, of being a closet mystic whose " long-time leanings, " coupled with bad scholarship, produced his " outlandish claims. " Today every reputable Educational Psychologist has to admit that Whorf was far ahead of his time in understanding and defining the basic principles of educational psychology. On the other hand, the alternative community are using the " uranus-venus " type of methods for bringing about change by melting away and eroding the ground uder the feet of the " rational " and " scientific " cultural hegmony - like the sea water melts and erodes the ground. Guest guest
Hi Lyn, I have been using crystals not only for physical healing with Reiki, but for those who come to me with emotional and spiritual issues. I would be happy to explain how I do this if you like. Feel free to email me privately if this is something you would like to hear about. Being a pioneer is challenging but you sound like you have faith in your work and I am feeling an abundant of positive energy and guidance around you from your guides and angels. Much blessings on your work. Love and Light, ~Des~ , " lyn9175 " <lynknapton wrote: > > Hi, I am a MA Counselling Studies student & due to commence my > research module in October this year. Guest guest
Hi Alisa, Thanks for the book recommendation, I will certainly have a look at that. Your second point I find quite interesting. Let's keep this simple. My mother use to say 'two wrongs don't make a right' and as a crystal therapist myself, I have been taught to share my knowledge for the greater good of humanity. If, as I believe, the academics find this particular work strange, not valid, indeed, not academic, surely is it not up to us to show how it can be & certainly is worthy of academic recognition. By taking what I would regard as a childish attitude, won't get anyone anywhere! Certainly, with the way things are moving there is more of a lean towards holistic type therapies and the likes of Rogers etc their theories worked fine in their time. We now have to drag that into the 21st century. When I am working beit as a crystal therapist or counsellor I follow the upr, congruence and empathy - what I'm saying is that the two: crystal therapy & counselling can integrate - it's all for the good of the client. THIS is what we have to show/guide the academics in to accepting. By keeping a very defensive stance, will go against all what I've been taught, certainly. I may have to change the language so that they comprehend what I'm saying - then fine. I accept where the academics are coming from, I guess they are on a different level to me?? Perhaps. What I don't get is the fact that crystal therapist bang on about not being understood etc so then, let's do something about it? Not just say well that's them & that's us, let's offer them the 'love & light' we use, to illuminate a very special world we have become enlightened too. Guest guest
Hi Lyn, I agree that the time has come for the alternative community to " infiltrate " the academic community and to scientifically validate the alternative sciences. The pioneers in this were the natropaths - who were in essence mainstreem medical doctors who saw that the western surgical medicine is inadequate in many cases where alternative medicine had the effective remedies. Today every medical institution and hospital has also a department for alternative medicine which has earned after many efforts and years of intensive effort and work it's legitimate place in the medical sciences. I believe that the time is right to legitimize and validate academically astrology, crystal therapy, parapsychology etc. I personally am researching the connection between astrology and crystal therapy. I don't do therapy or crystal therapy. I use astrology and crystals as tools for analyzing a person so that he/she can understand his/her needs, potential, and general call in life. My belief is that self knowledge and understanding helps a person to heal him/herself and cope with his/her issues. Astrologers analyze and describe - Psychologists label and judge. For example, a friend of mine who was labeled by the mainstreem psychologists as " suffering " from ADHD, wanted me to check from her birth chart when and how she stood the best chance of passing the theory exam for getting a bus driver's lisence. I saw from her chart that she was approx. 80% intuition and 20% rationality. So I told her the only chance she had for passing her exam was by using her gut feelings for finding the right answers and especially telepathically connecting to the examinar to know the right answers. I told her she shouldn't even attempt to use rational and logical means to work out the right answers because didn't stand a chance of passing. A week later she told me that most in her class failed the exam but she got a grade of 80 (out of a 100) by using her intuition and telepathic abilities. Good luck in your research - it's an important contribution to reunite science and spiritual wisdom, Alisa English Website: http://www.bareket57.biz/ Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail Beta. I'm in Canada and I started 6 months ago my practice in Reprogramming kinesiology (I guess you can call that Reinformation therapy or Quantum Reinformation technique). I don't know if that qualify as counsellor, but I do use crystals and stones with my clients when it is appropriate (it is not a systematic approach). You can use my profile to send me an e-mail if you think it will help your research. Josee
