I know that many people always select the crystals and stones they

purchase / adopt one at a time and preferably in person. I like to do

that too, but I also sometimes succumb to a compulsion to buy sets or

collections or lots of mixed stones and or crystals . This is a

somewhat random experience I've done pretty well. I do get some stones

that I would not buy as single stones, particularly dyed and heat

treated items which I normally avoid purchasing. When these do arrive

along with other stones, I try to make them comfortable.

 

On the other hand , I often find treasures that might never have gotten

my attention when I'm looking for a specific stone. Ordering sets

,samplers and collections has also been the main way that I get the

" sleepers " those stones that don't seem to call you or that you never

cared for and then at some time in the future they are exactly what is

needed

.. Recently I ordered a couple sets of 101 different assorted stones

many were familiar but there were some I had not encountered before . My

Daughter Mara swooped down on them and selected those which called to

her , cherry picking what might be called a very nice all purpose or

Extended chakra set. I noticed that we were both very drawn to the

Botswana agate. We've had some for many years but it had not really

been calling us recently at all. I think this time its helping us

continue work through our grief and be steady enough to help those

others who are even more distressed than we are.

 

We also received almost by accident some holey stones lovely water

tumbled stones with natural or clam carved holes through them .They

do seem to have both a grounding quality and a function of making space

for the spirit and magick in our lives. Holey stones were a common

part of my childhood but it has been many years since I worked with

them. I'm not sure if promoting /easing astral travel is among the

official work of these stones but I notice that Mara is able to Journey

more smoothly and return more energized and grounded . Many of the

stones that called to her this time were heart healing stones.

 

It seems that our spirit visitor is much more content now too. I

think these stones have helped him as well. He is making fewer obvious

visits here, and staying more subtle when he does, and has been guiding

My daughter on her Journeys. I've also seen him participating when

I've done some of the Angel assisted healing work I participate in. He

told me to say thank you for everybody's prayers and energies for his

families and loved ones and for " his " Marines. Many still need your

prayers and energies. He does say that I should mention if you are

doing transition work to remind spirits that they do not have to visit

in their own coffin, as some of the common sayings can be confusing (

Yes, I chewed out his Companion Angel over this , but ze said he had not

asked and I think that Angel has the same sense of humor as zer " ward').

We have also given a Rose quartz that stepped out to one of his family

members. I was not the stone I had planned on giving her but it was

the one that insisted and felt right at the time.

 

A lot of people also seem drawn to one of my personal favorites right

now, A palm sized tormalinated ( or maybe rutilated it is hard to tell

for sure ) 7 sided tabbyish smoky quartz , which I've never been able

to get a decent photo of . It is a single crystal but the back is like

a mountain range of shallow terminations. The stone is shot through with

dense inclusions and also allows bright patches of light through ,like

the milky way . Right now this stone is a people magnet Its in among

a tray of quartz at the back of our front room and not readily

visible, but quite of the people who have come through in the last week

have just been sucked over to it instantly.
