It was the 30th cyclone in this country since 1960. The winds blew up to 250 km per hour, creating waves of about 18 feet high that flooded the numerous coastal ponds of fresh water with salty water. In the Ganges delta the Sundarbans, the biggest mangrove swamp in the world, were devastated. The cyclone ended the following day.In this film we follow five social and health workers, who, after having attended an international meeting of the International People's Health University in Dhaka (the capital of Bangladesh), have decided to visit the villages of Barguna district, the most affected area, and watch the emergency work done by GK Savar's medical team, as well as the work of other NGOs and of the local authorities.Watch the film at: http://www.phmovement.org/en/node/2781CREDITS A film by Sebastien SauguesDuration: 29 minutesSpecial Thanks: GK Savar, International People's Health University, Dr Rezaul Haque, Marieke Vantieghem, Lydia Aballa, Kayvan Bozorgmerh.Copyright: Sebastien Saugues / Loin de l'Oeil – 08/2009http://blip.tv/file/3218530/
