PS Also tried putting non-dominent hand under pendulum, getting reiki

flowing, asking my angels to help (guessing they are there rather than

knowing).

I know lot of people have been giving me advice... I've read all of

it. But I can't think what is preventing me from working a pendulum?

Greetings Anjani,

I think I may have an answer for you. To me it does not sound like you are

defining " yes " and " no " yet with YOUR pendulum. The very first thing you need to

do when you start actually working with ANY pendulum (after the cleansing,

intent aspect that is), is to actually ask the pendulum to show you it's yes,

it's no and it's unclear/maybe. So say to the pendulum " Show me your yes " , " Show

me your no " , " Show me your unclear " . Make these statements firmly but politely

and in a confident voice. When it demonstrates how it will swing, thank it and

then move on to the next step (see below).

Not every pendulum will swing in a circle to denote yes. Some of my pendulums

swing front to back (to me and away from me) for no and then side to side for

yes but not all will do it that way. I think I am an odd person in this next

respect because I actually hold my pendulum at face level and speak directly to

the pendulum (as if? looking it in the eyes) when I inquire as to the

yes/no/unclear swing. I also will leave the pendulum at eye level for any yes/no

questions. I grew up being taught to make eye contact when speaking to someone,

so I show that same respect to my pendulums ... lol .... Like I said, I am just

probably odd that way.

Then the first actual question you should ask the pendulum is " Are you in the

mood to give answers right now? " or " Are you ready to do some dowsing work? "

This is being considerate of the pendulum and it's gifts.

I might ask what it is you want to do with pendulum work? My pendulums

get cranky when I am just playing around but work well when I have a

need to know situation though not when I have started to become over

dependent on pendulums. Perhaps energy testing or some other method will

be better suited to your nature and purpose . Whatever method you are

working with there is a kind of relaxed receptivity that promotes

success . When things are just not working after repeated tried it can

be a good idea to take a break for a while.

Thank you Peggy and ReNau. I did ask the pendulums if they wanted to

dowse for me, I also asked them to show me yes and no. But they would

swing the same way. I tried yesterday night again, incase the day

before wasn't a good time. However this time I found that the first

question I posed 'will you dowse for me?' The pendulum stopped

swinging and stuck to the centre. This is what happened for the first

time. Then when I pushed the matter it didn't even give me a

different swing for yes and no. So I take it that the pendulums I

have tried aren't right, or the time isn't right, or I'm not to do

any work on it.

Peggy, I am serious about the dowsing, I've got serious questions I

want to ask, but I just can't get it to give me yes no swings.

When I first was introduced to dowsing it was in my reiki class, we

were asked to see if the chakras were open. When I told the teacher I

could feel a magnetic pull she said I don't need a pendulum and we

tried it without. When I felt it pull, I could tell it was open.

However when I was unsure -so that could be that they were half open

or closed. Even yesterday, when the pendulum stood still refusing to

answer, I could feel a pull. Have you heard of dowsing where magnetic

pull means yes and no pulling means no?

What else can I try... I want to be able to dowse?

Hi all,

Several folks have suggested asking the pendy to show them it's

motions for yes, no and maybe answers. I was taught a different

method. The old hill-billy that showed/taught me to dowse with sticks

and pendys had me clear the pendulum and then with a hand drawn chart

under my pendulum, had me show the pendulum what motions I expected

the pendulum to make for each separate answer. His thoughts were to

'teach' the pendulum rather than ask what it preferred. This would

stand to reason in a lot of pendulum work, if as some say, we already

have the answers we seek and are using the pendulum to bring the

answers out of our subconscious where we can easily access them.

Pendulum dowsing for water/minerals works differently, as does dowsing

for something tangible that has gone missing.

As Peggy wrote, you may also be trying too hard. I found that the best

time for my partner to use a pendy is after a Reiki treatment or

meditation session when she's very relaxed. No other time seems to

work for her and she used to try so hard and get so disappointed when

the answers just wouldn't come. Then one day after a Reiki session,

she absently picked up one of her pendys and asked it a question. It

answered her quite nicely and since then the relaxation is always a

prelude to her pendy work.

The pendulum knows that you don't need it's help since you already have the

answer. When your gift is as great as the information as the pendulum you make

it feel " unworthy " and insulted without meaning to do so. It doesn't want to do

that type of work. I had and still have the same excitement for the pendulum as

when I first started. They did the same thing to me and would play with their

answers. I even had different pendulums for different things. I still do.

This also may not be a no for you. IF you are working on others and asking

about the charka's, it may be that you are not suppose to work on that chakra

for that person. Example from my pendulum Reiki Master teacher. She worked on

a lady for two years and never was allowed by the higher self of the person to

work on the base chakra. Then one day the client told her how she was sexually

abused as a child and the same day she was able to work on the base chakra. It

maybe something that the person is not ready to deal with themselves, that you

aren't aware of.

First, I had one pendulum that had an entity in it so it had to be removed.

Then second I had a prankster spirit in my house - got rid of that. Now I had

to show command and that I was serious about my work with my questions. So I

cleaned them all, I mean every stone, pendulum, crystal I had. Ready to sit out

at the full moon for energy - then what happens - it rains for 4 days. So I

stuck them all on their plates in an empty drawer to sit and wait until they

could be energized. (I have found that pendulums don't like the isolation nor

the dark really.) I went on about my life and forgot about them. The next full

moon - it rained again - the next full moon it rained again. Then a few weeks

ago I took them out and put them out in the sun (haven't seen to much of that in

the last few months either) and left them for 24 hours. (Ironically my disabled

child seems to resinate with my stones, since after dark she kept telling me

they were

cold and lonely and wanted to come inside.)

Talk about shinning and beautiful and obeying and working and being full of

energy! Wow what a difference. Maybe you need to clean them and put them away

for them to be able to " Mind " you. They are wanting to be boss from what you

are saying.

Maybe you are also as they say " trying to hard " since you want it so bad.. let

go... and let it come naturally. Also try using a chart with letters and have

your pendulum spell out it's problem. The second chart on this site is the one

I use - It is really good for a beginner as you will see the pendulum will use

the bottom half and say more information etc.
