This seems to me to be so dis-respectful to nature as well as to the rocks. Nature eventually (slowly in some cases) takes her face (so to speak. I have seen instances where old graffiti is being " eaten " by lichen on the large boulder surfaces. I have seen old metal signs that were nailed to trees being " consumed " by the tree. I have seen case where it wasn't even human doing, a large rock either tumbled down or the tree grew on both sides of this flat rock and as the tree grew the flat rock became basically a stone " bench " in the crook of that tree. Nature can be much more adaptable then we humans and cleanses herself in the fashion she feels compelled to. I do not like seeing people intentionally damage things in nature but I am always amused and awe-struck when I see nature taking back what is hers. Blessings to your eve all. I also thought of cave drawings first but did not mention it in my previous email. There was a really fascinating article (last year I think) in of all places, Archaeology Magazine about Graffiti. Part of the article mentioned about how graffiti's " life " expectancy is different from other " archaeological treasures " . The author had a photo " life history " of a particular wall (LA maybe) that continues to transform and as someone new comes along covers over some detail with his/her own idea. It really was a great article. (Gotta LOVE archives on the internet!!! here is a link to the article: _http://www.archaeology.org/0707/etc/graffiti.html_ (http://www.archaeology.org/0707/etc/graffiti.html) ) Enjoy!! Guest guest
When I've traveled to or through places where there are rocks & boulders, I periodically have found that someone has felt the need to spray-paint Graffiti, symbols & pictures on the huge faces of the rocks. This seems to me to be so dis-respectful to nature as well as to the rocks. (Though I'm not all " worked up " over this, it does make me a bit sorrowful). How do you think this afront might effect that stone or rock? Can a Rock or Mineral FEEL offended or disrespted? And if so, might that have some affect if one were to try using that rock or mineral for energy/healing work? Love to you all, Jackie
Guest guest
Jackie and All others :-) When I read this, the image that came up for me immediately was drawings on cave rocks.... The Cave man must have been the first graffiti artist! Perhaps there is something within us genetically that compels us to communicate or make our mark on the world. I don't know if those large rock faces are disrespected or feel a sense of purpose... do you think it could be both? I don't have an opinion really on this one either way.. but it is interesting to give it another view. Guest guest
Some of the rocks may think the colors are beautiful and feel that they are beautiful with the new colors added. Seeing it as 'disrespectful is a human judgment. We don't know how the rock feels.
