Guest guest
Purchasing crystals online is always up for debate and disagreement. I personally have no problems buying crystals through Ebay. You have to know your crystals though as sometimes pictures are not the best and sellers don't always know the product they are trying to sell. I have gotten some real steal of a deals from just that, sellers NOT knowing what they have. I can also sense energy from the crystal in a given picture. (I think it is my electric personality lol). I have had very few issues when purchasing through ebay. I make sure before I bid on a crystal that I check the seller's feedback-ratings. If that seller has the same issues over and over again, I pass. Blessings to your day all. Guest guest
Something I forgot to mention about shopping for " deals " on Ebay (regardless of what they are but definitely crystals since they can start adding up on shipping weight) is to make sure you do factor in what the seller is going to charge for shipping. Some sellers are less then fair when it comes to the shipping (and handling) fees. This could be due to what they have to fork over to Ebay is from the sale price of the item, not including the shipping charges. Guest guest
There are lots of choices online. One of my favorites is www.healingcrystals.com They clear the crystals before they send them to you, and the prices are reasonable. , " chriskaminsky " <christopherkaminsky wrote: > > I wanted to buy a nice stilbite crystal, but I wanted to check with people on here to see the best source. >
Guest guest
[CrystalHW] Best place to purchase crystals online ..DeLurking to add my .02... I have purchased some great pieces from EBay. I have also been burned a few times.Maybe more than a few times ! Here are my suggestions. Do NOT buy Amber on EBay unless you know what " real " amber looks like.and how much the real stuff costs. Most of the stuff you can find on Ebay these days Is either amber mixed with resin (looks crackly) or is completely fake. It wasn't always this way, but a lot of what's being sold comes from China now, and you really cant trust that it's genuine. With Amber from Denmark OR from the Dominican Republic you might have better luck. The same thing applies to Chrysacolla, especially Chrysacolla beads, and to Turquoise. The Chinese and others are taking inferior materials and dyeing them to look like the real thing. I first saw this stuff at the Tucson Gem shows, then it started turning up on EBay. Turquoise and Chrysacolla are mined in Arizona, Brazil, Peru and some other places, and it's all becoming a bit pricey. Needless to say, the fake stuff doesn't have the " vibes " the real stuff does. Quartz crystals you're probably OK with. Another trick unscrupulous sellers will do is to " photoshop " the picture of the piece of rock or mineral, making it look brighter than it already is. Something that is shot against a black background might be suspect. I do know of some reputable sellers who shoot against a black background, so look at their ratings, and don't be afraid to complain if you don't get what you paid for. Always remember. If it looks too good..or seems too cheap.to be real, it probably ISN't. Kayt Witch, Techno-Pagan, Healer
Guest guest
I need to put my 1.5 cents in now about Ebay. We have had couple of people say they got good deals on Ebay. We have had people say they got burnt on Ebay. Truth is you will find this same situation both on and off Ebay. However... the caveat on Ebay is that there are dealers who sell crystals at higher prices for lower quality... and deliberately mis name things to get a better price. These folks are looking to take advantage of people who don't know the crystals... and aren't looking for a long term relationship. If you buy from an established website the dealer has more at stake if they try to fool a customer. Whether it is our site or any other, I think most of the people who have the better websites do it for a full time living. Many ebayers are doing it for some extra spending money. I do know of some Ebay sellers who are good and honorable. I also see on Ebay many ... many items that are not what they say they are. Now.. the poster who said they got good deals on Ebay especially when the dealer didn't know what they had... knows what she is doing. She is not a newbie.. and she knows her stuff. However someone that does not know the stones really good can get burned very easily. Also.. the last poster said it should be fine with Quartz. Wrong. I see some Chinese folks calling all sort of things something else that it is not. I see so much quartz being sold as Super Seven Quartz that is not.... Russian lemurian Sacred Scribe Quartz that is not.... Ajoite Quartz that is not... Citrine Quartz that is not... Red Quartz that is colored.. and not natural... Green Quartz from China that is dyed... Agates in bright blue and red that are dyed... and all of these are being presented as real and natural. Ebay can offer some good deals IF you know what you are doing. If you don't know.... and you still want to take a chance... ask someone to help you that knows. Ok... there we go. And I know someone was expecting this from me... :-) .... glad I didn't disappoint you. Guest guest
I used to work in a Native American jewelry store.. with real turquoise from the American turquoise mines. We sold pieces by reknowned Navajo, and Zuni artisans. I can spot the fake chinese junk a mile away.. don't buy the chinese turquoise - its worthless, mainly comprised of chalk and dye with hardly any actual turquoise content. -Charlene John Van Rees Jan 13, 2010 2:13 AM Re: [CrystalHW] Re: Best place to purchase crystals online. Guest guest
No offense intended here hyleg but Ebay is most assuredly not a good place to buy crystals and minerals unless you really, really know your stuff and even then the pictures can and are 'photoshopped' to make the crystals look like something that they are not. Too many sellers on Ebay don't know their stuff and too many more do know but are only out to make a quick buck from buyers who they (the sellers) hope do not know their crystals. Be especially wary of any " SUPER " deals and of most sellers in China. A friend just paid almost $75 with shipping for a big piece of " moldavite " that turned out to be nothing but green glass. Others have purchased 'turquoise' that was dyed howlite, 'ocean jasper' that was common red jasper, agates and agate slices that were dyed, pieces of heat treated amethyst being touted as 'real' citrine, heat treated/irradiated clear quartz sold as smokey quartz and much, much more. I just saw an 'agate' carving purchased by my son's mother-in-law that was pricey and looked real nice until you looked close. Well, the carving part is right but it's not agate, it's a mottled looking (dyed that way) piece of shellacked limestone bought on Ebay and shipped from China. I know my crystals pretty well and will never ever buy any on Ebay again because even though I've gotten a few good deals there I've seen way too many bad deals and on my income I can't afford 'bad' deals from Ebay. I have a great list of reputable online dealers who are honest and reasonably priced, including one site where they deal in very fine pieces which belongs to one of the members here. (lol...that's John Van Rees) If anyone is interested, send me an email off-list and I'll reply with the links to all of 'em. Love and Light... I personally believed they helped (thankfully I've been cancer free for nine years now). I have no issue with them being irradiated. Guest guest
Dear Tom, I totally agree with you when it comes to people who didn't do their homework. For instance, it took me countless hours researching moldavites, specifically, to learn how they are supposed to look and that they are mined only in the Czech Republic (majority), Germany, Austria and Poland. So far I've had a very good experience with crystals on Ebay but I definitely did my homework, even isolating some reputable sellers. Just to give you an example, a friend insisted on buying a moldavite by himself, thinking it was just a matter of reading the auction's title and bidding. When the stone came he saw it was black, not green and translucid like the ones I researched and purchased for us a few weeks before. I asked him to send me the auction's page and sure enough, the stone he purchased as a Moldavite was nothing more than a common black tektite. The good side of the story is he paid only 3 bucks, including shipping for it, so it was not an incredible trauma. Having said all that I will insist: if one is diligent enough and does a very patient and detailed homework (studying the stones on the net and frequenting stone sellers business to get the idea 'live' of what the stone in question looks like), one can make excellent purchases on Ebay. With stones from all over the world and the best prices - because competition is fierce - you can't go wrong. Again, and I should repeat incessantly, one MUST LIKE to do research on the net to know what they are buying. I just saw an 'agate' carving purchased by my son's > mother-in-law that was pricey and looked real nice until you looked close. Guest guest
I've had really good experiences buying on ebay. I bought the most beautiful labradorite sphere & others...I tend to buy from Canada, US and Brazil. Some things I prefer to buy in person. I'm lucky to have a great store here in the burbs-I don't even have to go into town! Marcia gives me great prices that rival the best deals on ebay. Her site (although nowhere near as complete as her store) is www.imaginarius.ca Andrea On Wed, Feb 24, 2010 at 2:40 AM, hyleg2003 <hyleg2003 wrote: > > > Dear Tom, > > I totally agree with you when it comes to people who didn't do their > homework. Guest guest
okay would ya'all please share your links to trustworthy dealers..... had a friend ask and i don't know where to send him as what i buy and he wants are two different things. thx --- On Wed, 2/24/10, hyleg2003 <hyleg2003 wrote: hyleg2003 <hyleg2003 [CrystalHW] Re: Best place to purchase crystals online. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, 1:40 AM Dear Tom, I totally agree with you when it comes to people who didn't do their homework. Guest guest
Quite honestly, I am a pretty busy person and I don't have time to 'do my homework' on a seller. I basically need to find someone I can trust to make a purchase from and make it quickly and efficiently. If I am going to spend time researching each sale, then its not really worth it to me personally. Guest guest
Good morning, I was hoping some of the most experienced members of this group could advise of a stone/gem that my wife can utlilyse because she has always had very vivid and Lucid dreams and this is all catching up with her... causing her to wake up in the morning exhausted from the nights adventures and would really appreciate a suggestion for a plain deep sound sleep. Thanking you in advance.   Thomas Dean  ________________________________ C Russ <lorena34 Thu, February 25, 2010 9:36:49 PM Re: [CrystalHW] Re: Best place to purchase crystals online.  Hi John, I will buy from you before I buy from ebay... loved your site by the way its beautiful! -Charlene John Van Rees Feb 25, 2010 9:21 PM CrystalHealing- workshop Re: [CrystalHW] Re: Best place to purchase crystals online. Guest guest
Celestite and angelite are said to be helpful for peaceful dreaming. Turquoise is helpful during the day to relax the mind. -Charlene Thomas Dean Feb 26, 2010 10:46 AM Re: [CrystalHW] Re: Best place to purchase crystals online.
